Level 2 I think there is a smaller salve in a random location and I think
Level 3. a reg healing slave and smaller on both in random containers.
Getting rid of torch, also secret location on level 3. sometime something sticks out and it makes ya wanna push it. What ya find in there will let ya get rid of the torch.
They also contribute greatly to Exp to sue towards learning knew skills. Combat does not earn you very much, exploring is what earns you the big exp.
There's also one more method of healing late game.
And don't expect to stop using the torch. As others said, there is another light source but it's really weak.
I think it's unfair how enemies can still see you in complete darkness. Stealth is never really an option.
Fighting with a single weapon allows you to perform some nasty left to rights. With a shield you can't generate as much momentum or have as wide of a swing arc. Fighting with the torch has its benefits.
Also I don't think the creatures of the dungeon follow "normal" rules.
That sorta takes away from the whole "AI follows the same rules as the player" right? Shouldn't the AI require light to fight adequately? Maybe I understand some but not all?
Just switch to your secondary weapon setup with R or pressing the button in the inventory screen, and equip your favored loadout there. If the area has enough light to fight properly, swap with R between that loadout and the less optimal one with the torch, finish the job, then swap back.
Sometimes the area doesn't have good light, but you can just retreat a little towards one that does. I am fine with the torch, but the golems are much more easily fought with a polehammer, for instance.
Your other loadout doesn't cause encumbrance while not switched to.
