I get mentally drained whenever I'm playing any match of DotA, needed to take a break every one match.
Unlike playing Arena on Exanima which is a smooth experience for me, even a stress-relief.
I don't see the logic in getting tired after playing Exanima. Maybe the game just isn't for you, OP? It's generally true that tiredness=boredom though of course one can become tired from other things. If one is too accustomed to multiplayer, maybe? Or just the fact that at least for newer players Exanima requires a lot of focus/concentration to succeed. It definitely isn't a casual game, at least in the beginning, while learning it. I guess it might just be inexperience in this case causing it, and difficulty. Any game you're experienced in will feel much easier and thus require less mental effort.
Well, I think that is interesting. Maybe its the fact that I always play Exanima very seriously trying to do the best possible. I do become very relaxed and calm after playing, but in gameplay I can feel intense emotions like frustration or nerves very often. Maybe this could be the cause of the mental draining..
Well that makes a lot of sense. I mean I love this game and its probably the thing I always wanted, so I never get bored out of it. And that makes me think it is for me. But its very true that because of this, I spent like +5 hours each day non stop playing, trying as hard as possible to learn how to do things, I just loved the mechanics, so that might be why I became mentally exhausted.
Luckly I am not that worried now about the tiredness factor, as after the initial hype of the game, now I have less intense and shorter sessions, something more under control, and as you said the game is becoming a little bit easier now.
But I never thought about that. I actually have a decent but unconsistent diet, often skipping some meals because of prioritizing other stuff, I dont even sleep on the adequate time of day. And I would very much appreciate the extra energy, but I never knew diet would give me so much of it!
Its definitively something to inform myself at
