How I killed Sir
For those of you who don't know, Sir is the name of the Demon Troll thing running around the 4th level killing everything he finds be it you or skeletons.

Well I managed to kill him although it took a while
The fundamentals to have is the Sword taken from the Catacombs, one of if not the best one handed sword at this point, and some sort of shield. It also helps to find as much of the Brass Plate in the level as possible, I had the full set excluding gauntlets.

You can't outrun him, so what I did, as boring as it is, was wait for him in the first hallway you reach after exiting the portal area (Where the angry undead is) as there is a small bathroom there.

I stood outside the bathroom until he came along and I lured him in. Since he has big arms, if you hug him he can't hit you, and since it's a small space, you can hug him and he can't really back away. Thus, I just stabbed and slashed him in the arms and head repeatedly while he struggled to hit me, however he did knock me over and get a few good licks before I killed him, so beware of that. (Though if you have the plate armor then the large majority will be stamina damage, I only lost about 20% of my health to injury.

On the other hand, you could lure him in the bathroom and lock him in if that's more your style, but getting past him and opening the door once he's in is a bit difficult, since he actually closed the door when he chased me in there. Come to think of it, by closing that door he kind of sealed his fate.

Anyways, I hope this'll help somebody, but if you do undertake this operation, remember that unless you're willing to make copies of your game files pre-death, if he kills you, you have to start over again.

I find the best time to fight sir is right after arriving in level 4 since the main (and only default) check point is exactly when you go through the portal. So if he wrecks you you're not losing much time and can give him another whack.

In this case the ornate dagger from level one would even come in more handy I guess

I lured him back near the portal, and managed to lock him behind the portcullis leading to the Golem level. From the other side I stabbed through the gaps with a two-handed sword until he went down.

this is almost exactly how I took it down, funny thing is I had spent all this time making a trap for the bastard (luring it to the pit) when it snuck up on me, I was right next to the bathroom so I popped in and took out a short sword. it took a while but he went down in time.

So I'm lucky that the moment I went through there and saw armor suits I turned away without a second thought?

That is a neutral area - as is the other entrance from the Crossroads - but further in you would run into trouble if you try passing through some of the doors without the appropriate token in your inventory.

Don't I have to kill a bunch of things to find the (spider?) token?

Some ancient undead who tend to carry poleaxes, and some skeletons I think as well. At least one of the tokens is carried by an ancient undead, but it could be more than that. In all honesty, I've not had any real issues with most of the enemies throughout the game, with one of the blue blademasters being an exception. As for the ancient undead, a two-handed sword will let you get in close and get a couple of slashes in between their attacks, and they go down pretty easily.

What do you mean by Ancient Undead? Crossroads guards?

Yeah, they make like a hissing sound and aren't the same as regular Undead you see early on in the game. Blademasters (guys dressed in blue who duel-wield swords in the Crossroads) and the Crossroads 'police' are both Ancient Undead enemies.Their skill level varies, but can be up to Expert and Master for the Blademasters (of which I believe there are a total of 3 in the Crossroads level).

the captain (wherever he is) is Expert, blademasters are master, and I'm assuming the Police are Adept. Shame I have to avoid any enemies except basic skeletons and police since I have half health and I'm not about to let mr dual sword shave the rest off.

The Captain of the Guard is a skeleton I think - according to https://suigeneris.gamepedia.com/Exanima_Level_5#Creatures
He's really not that tough, and he's carrying a pretty nice two-handed axe and has some nice armour stored in his quarters.

I just Killed sir for the first time (I only had the game for a few days). First time we fought, he knocked me out, though I landed a few hits (I had found the brass "plate armour", some matching leggings and gauntlets, and my helmet was the night vision hat with a bevor, so I didn't die). After wandering about a bit more, I found the hole. As luck would have It, my continuous detect mind spell revealed him chilling behind south door to the pit room, So I threw the door open and rushed around the pit, and waited for him to kill himself. I think I still got thaumaturgy experience from knocking him in there, and of course, skill exp is gained from successful hits and blocks, alongside exploration and reading, so no loss there as it is easy to grind by parrying a zombie for a few minutes.

I used the lorica set with that ornate sword and hugged him and crouched his swings. It's also crucial to dodge away from his swings to reduce their damage, although you may also run into them (going under and past his armpit) but it's riskier. Anyway just overhead spam him while you're doing this and when he does his slam dunk attack you got to dodge and hit him right in the head.

It's a lot harder than it sounds but its possible. You will probably lose some health too and you may get knocked out. But he's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and deserves to die.
