Running Win 8. Any help is appreciated. :)
If you select the run options when you run compatibility, windows will give you a prompt that wants to save the selections that were made to run the program more smoothly in the future. I did it and now it just prompts me to use those settings every time I play. I don't have to rerun the compatibility and my game isn't lost. Hope this helps!
-Right click, properties
-Compatibility in the top tab of this window
-Compatibility mode - check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:
-Select Windows XP (service pack 3) from the drop down menu
-Press okay, right click, then run as administrator
Now it should work.
Right click on the game and select Properties
Local Files > Browse Local Files
Single-click to highlight CakeMania2 file and at the top of the window will be Manage, Application Tools
Click on Application Tools and select Troubleshoot Compatibility
Run the Troubleshooter and when it gives you the option to do so, select Recommended Settings
It will also ask you if you want to save those settings so you don't have to go through that again.
Update to my previous reply: I did get my game to load and run fine. I got the Compatibility Troubleshooter to work. I figured out that the reason why it started crashing was because I was trying to run it as an administrator. Once I stopped doing that, it started right up!
Download this one, for free, and nothing wrong with it. I've tried everything to get this game to run on Steam; they just don't support these anymore. This one works perfectly in Windows 11, with no annoyance.
