how do i get slime?

i've got to level 12 now and built all of the structures at my house and moved to a hostile territory, and found i need slime for a number of products but i've not found slime in any of the areas i've been to (all 3 zones paradise island for the adventurers i think it was bottom right).

slime's surely can be found in the starting areas can't they?

if not how long do i have to wait until i can get slime's please? as i want a shield to go with my 1h hammer. :-)

and can anyone link a decent guide to this game please? i think i got all the basics covered now except slime and want to be sure.

learning how and when to get higher grade materials and tools/weapons for instance would be nice as most of the videos online are over a year old and out dated.

Slime is acquired from Snails...wild snails are all lvl 1 - so if you need/want higher level slime you need LOTS of patience, time, and snails to boost their level. IMO...this was one of the worst changes they made to the game (making all animals level 1 instead of based on the zone they came from)

in jungle area where snakes are, you can find snails. In the past you could also fish during the night I believe, but I guess its not an option anymore.

Thanks for the answer. I've seen one snail in all the time I played. Been fishing on every time of day and never got any slimy fish or clam yet. I saw snakes in the jungle, and spiders, but no snails yet. I hope to find one soon.
