Does the multiplayer actually work?
I've heard that the multiplayer doesn't actually work. Can someone who has the game verify if this is true or not?

Spent many an hour LANing it in middle school, would love to play it again with friends..

You can find people on voobly for example.

I too did LAN with this game. As Flash stated voobly and gameranger often have a server up at some point. And the people there are not to mean either.

Yes, this game works fine with any Virtual LAN programs (like Hamachi, which I use to play it with friends). Voobly and GameRanger are also good ways to find people to play with! So yes, the multiplayer does work; you can even use Direct IP connection (though you may run into firewall issues on one side or the other, so programs like Hamachi make things much simpler and less headache inducing when you're trying to troubleshoot both sides to find out who is causing the issue). So the multiplayer is by no means 'dead' or 'broken'.

It does not however have a matchmaker or a server browser, so you're going to have to ask around for people to play with and their IPs.

This game used to use MSN gaming zone back in the day.

There is still a group of guys that plays this online via voobly.

I havnt been able to get it to launch properly using Voobly. I can launch a game and it will launch MY game copy and load up okay. However the other players in my room get nothing. THe game doesnt launch for them from the lobby when I launch my game.

I switched to Game Ranger and it works fine. In fact Game Ranger had a popup that said they had just implemented support for the new Steam Version of the game. Have had no issues as yet with GameRanger.

Just as an aside - Whenever I tried to Host a Game using Direct TCP/IP connections it always completely froze my PC so this was a no go as well. I have only found GameRanger to workf or me.
