CD Required?
Every time I hit "Play X-Wing Alliance" it tells me I need to insert a CD-ROM. Can somebody please assist?

I had the same problem after downloading the update. The patch is meant for the disk version of the game so it affects how it is. If their is a solution it would have to be done with steam. If they are going to sell it here than they should fix a problem if it keeps the game from being played.

I'm having the same issue. The game shows a little window that asks me to install it. All of the options require a CD.

I managed to solve it by reinstalling the game! Don't know why it failed the first time!

Did you just do a regular un-install/re-install? I tried that and it didn't work.
