Problems with multiplayer
Me and my friend are trying to play this together on multiplayer, over the lan.

We're able to connect to the game, but as soon as it starts, it goes wrong for both of us.

Whoever is hosting just sees a black screen and a flashing blue bar in the middle.

Whoever is joining can see the game, but everything is constantly flickering black with the blue bar in the middle.

What is causing this, and is there a way to fix it?

Any mods installed? Both on same patch? Same OS?

OS is windows 10 for both of us.

Had DSUCP installed, will uninstall and try a completely vanilla install.

I'm using the latest steam version, not entirely sure what version he's using, but apparently, it's a GOG version.

Never tried DSUCP multiplayer, but that would be lovely if i know it works. Let me know if the vanilla version works with multiplayer. I'd check the xwa upgrade forums for your issue if vanilla works but dsucp doesn't. Their forums have a long history of troubleshooting. If your vanilla works, I'll probably look into this myself, as I eventually need that working anyway.

Crossing steam and gog versions may cause an issue, not sure. I wish it wouldn't, but there's probably something going on there. If you find an issue you can't fix, i'd just refund if you can, and play matching versions. Doesn't seem likely this should be an issue, but it's possible.

Also heard that win10 can cause issues, but I'm not actually sure. You may find info on this on the xwa upgrade forums.

I use the gog version and know it's stable; it was more stable before the steam version caught up with it. I'm also on win7, so i can't reproduce your OS errors. Personally, I prefer the gog version.

Also, there's a way to check versions; it's easy, but I forgot how off the top of my head; if you can't figure out how, I'll look it up. You should both have the same version on clean installs, i believe. If the clean install isn't the recent version, then maybe try the recent version.
