Rebel rendezvous: Aid to the Alliance
Hi guys, do you have any recommendation for this mission? I am doing it for like 10th time, and every time the rebel ships get destroyed before reaching the required percentage. The closest I got was 64%. But those ships are too vulnerable and they are destroyed too quickly. I am trying to destroy the bombers as much as possible and as soon as possible, I even command my buddy to hunt them as well, but they still get destroyed.

Do you have any tips? It's starting to be really frustrating.

Here's a walkthrough. Let me know if it helps or not.

I just finished this mission and it was much more difficult than I remember it being. I went over to the XWAU forums and you can find a number of people complaining about it as well. There was some discussion about the ISDII or Lancer frigates having too many lasers, traveling too fast, or some rebel ships not having the right coding. I watched the video above, it wasn't much help for me. Here's what I did to make it work. As soon as I hyper'd to the Rebel Hospital, I zeroed out my lasers and immediately turned toward where the imperials arrive. If you have the new HD Backdrops installed, its where that funky looking nebula is. If you do this, the ISDII will arrive about 2kms from you. Once there, it will fire a couple of missiles at you, just make sure you start charging your lasers when they arrive and it won't be a problem. Then, I hung around waiting for fighters to show and started blasting them when they left the hangar. I tried getting as many as I could before they snuck through.

Despite this tactic, it still took me a couple of tries to make it work and I barely made it outta there. I had about a dozen advance missiles heading for me as I hypered outta there. I also tried using the Ion cannon tactic to try and disable groups of Tie Bombers, but i didn't notice a difference. Best bet is to blast everything in sight. Once you reach the goal, decrease your lasers to zero, transfer whatever you got to shields, set shields to full rear, but guns at Defensive, and get the hell outta there!

I just started a hard play through the other day and was beating my head against a wall with an up to date XWA upgrade.
Only way is like mdiesing said. Head for the nebula.
From there, I nuked a Lancer, then got in the top turret and just circled firing at the ISD til it's shields dropped (may have to stop to fight TIE's and GUN's if you start getting overwhelmed), then disabled the ISD. CRL Shadow took out the other Lancer, fighters mopped up, ISD destroyed, ended up with a record high % escaped and the hospital even survived.

Good thing those turbolasers don't lead their targets well, lol.

Thats an interesting tactic geoffman. I'll have to give that a shot. When you jumped to the turret, did you have the Otana autofly to that target? When I've tried to use that in the past, it often flies all over the place where I can't quite get a shot on the target. Also while you were shooting up the capital ships, how did the rebel ships survive the onslaught of tie bombers and torpedoes?

With the XWA upgrade, incoming torps/fragile TIEs usually get shredded by the guns on the corvettes and Calamari cruisers.
For the turret trick, you can fly the ship to some degree while in the turret. I hold down the same button for reticle targeting/target in front of you. That lets you pitch up/down, so I usually do 3/4 or 4/4 power to shields, 0/4 to lasers, and just turret them down while flying a slow ring around them.

Cool, thanks for the tip! I'll have to give it a shot!

Been a long time since I played this, but I never had that much trouble with this mission. I just flew towards the Imperials, shooting stuff along the way. and when the TIE Bombers show up I go after them and shoot down as many as I can. Also, I never man the turret guns...I just pick the closest target and set the turrets to autofire on it while I focus on flying. By the time the gunboats show up, most of the rebels have escaped, so I just throw all power to engines and hightail it out of there. The turrets' auto-targeting is pretty good at hitting missiles, so do that as well.
