Just keep moving and build barriers to protect yourself. Whenever you see an opening fire a blue cube into the centre. Don't fire unless it is moving up though or you lose the blue cubes.
As long as you keep the momentum going you should be able to complete it quite easily.
I have nothing against puzzles if they fit the rest of the game. Check QBEH-1 for a proper puzzle game with cubes.
EDIT: I'm at the second cube puzzle. Boring. :( I wish they had some other ideas, some real puzzles for these parts of the game.
- Right click cubes you don't need - That way you'll find the ones you need quicker + make new ways.
- Left click the ones you need and press E immediately after. If it tells you your inventory is full: Go to the stream and just press the right mouse button till all cubes have been ejected.
- Always (except when ejecting cubes) keep moving.
- If you see the enemy: Just run away from it (sometimes you might not be fast enough but that's no big deal. If it traps you try to crawl below the blocks - If that's not possible just right click them a few times. If the enemy is directly in front of you click it - can't remember if left or right mouse button - then it will run away from you). If it explodes: Go back and collect the exploded cubes you need.
- Go slowly from top to bottom. If you fall to a lower area (either by accident or by running away from the enemy) use the stream to get back up.
That's all I did. Didn't need platforms nor bombs for that and I'm all other than a pro-gamer.
Here's another tip: If you fall to the very bottom and lose some points... Don't go up immediately! There might be some cubes down there that you can collect, and you won't lose any more points for staying down there longer.
Also, using a point cube on a white cube says it'll 'make a platform'... But it will also create at least 1 point cube, and usually more. That can help you finish the game easier.
I actually had no problem at all with the first two cube games, I completed them on the first try. And then I got sent to pavilion 2, and slammed into a brick wall. I failed four times in a row before deciding I'd had enough and skipped it. When I got sent to pavilion 6, I fully expected to be forced to skip it as well. It turned out just reaching pavilion 6 was the hardest part about it, actually playing that cube game was as simple as the first two, beat in the first try.
Something about pavilion 2 is off. I'm not sure what it is. It might be a scarcity of usable blocks, maybe the very random placement of blue blocks making you repeatedly fall into the water, maybe the apparently increased frequency of monster blocks. Maybe all of it. But trying to beat that level is just straight up hard.
Just don't play DCut.
Why oh why couldn't they have put the skip button at the start after the first cube game? It's not skippable if you have to wait 10-15 mins for it to fail.
It would make it less frustrating. Mostly my experience of the cube game is: fall to the bottom; ride the stream up; attempt to jump off towards a likely looking ledge; miss the ledge and fall to the bottom; repeat.
100 times this. Or just have more useable cubes about (like a difficulty setting). I have plenty of action games already, I do not need this to also be an action game.
But I really appreciate the possibility to skip this mini-games, isn't lore friendly and a bit odd taking the required object in this way but it's functionally for the story and allow you to keep concentrate on it.
I really love the adventure part of the game, but this platformer thing just sucks.
Does anybody know a cheat to skip this?
I've been trying to collect score and jump down into the water to erase the score for a while now.
Is there a certain score you have to reach before you start erasing it?
Just collecting four or five points and losing them is not enough I guess...
... I'm such a loser I'm not even able to fail at this!!!! :-((
