How is it that rifle men and infantry are able to kill tanks?

I drove one of those square shaped german tanks at the enemy and they destroyed it by shooting at it with rifles how is that possible lol considering the material a ww1 tank was made of there was no rifle that could penetrate it?

During WW I they already had improvised anti-tank grenades.

Yeah but these are not grenade throwers they are killing my tank with a regular rifle the infantry in trenches it's ridiculous.

ww1 tanks were rather low tech and were able to be taken out by machine gun and rifle fire if hit in the right place, dont let the word tank fool you, they were big and slow but that was the engines lack of power not the armours amazing protective ability

WW1. And as you can tell from the fact that right at the beginning of the war, they are very poorly taught on WW1.

What LonelyHunter said. Grenade Launchers, to some degree crude AT Rifles, and the like.

As well as the more common rifle-grenades, mounting them on rifles and firing them for added range.

Though I do find they are rather more effectivethan they would be, that doesn't change the fact that they were a very real threat.

Time to necro this 7 years after the fact. Some armored cars for some reason don't have a high enough armor stat to be inpervious to infantry fire. Also as the others said if you get too close the infantry and cavalry can throw granades at the tank and basically kill it in seconds.
