Report a translation problem
You start the German campaign with one officer detached from a squad. Officers have binoculars. You can use them with the X key by default. Place him at your side of the bridge then use the binoculars.
You'll notice some fellows in a trench. Now bring up your light mortar squad close by your officer. Have them use "shoot in" and slowly eliminate the enemy on the opposite bank in this way. Now repeat: creep up officer, use binoculars, follow with mortar squad, etc.
If you're still stumped I recommend getting Blitzkrieg Anthology which (apart from being a good game) has a proper tutorial. This game and Blitzkrieg run on the same engine and share most of the same mechanics.
