How to deal with Hitmen?

I don't understand how to deal with hitmen effectively, other than having a guard shoot and kill them before the hitman can kill any of my staff. But this always results in the police coming and fining me for poor security. Do Doormen help with this?? I checked the tutorials but it doesn't say anything on dealing with hitmen from rivals. It's really messed up my game after getting into a small war with another rival casino!

One tip I have is to send Trouble makers and cause trouble. Once you get the "Your opponent is holding a grudge against you, try and get one or all your TM's to attack the hit-man. This way, one will get shot, the police are called and they'll kill them for you.
