After 15 days literally everyone that uses any machine in my casino, breaks it. Is this a feature? How can I stop it?

All in all, it was really stupid. I know for a fact the copy protection gave false positives even on the original DVD version. It was something we were forced to put in by the publisher.

If the publisher told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?

So it seemed like a shame that this game was in a state like this, so I've rebuilt it with the copy protection turned off (which should fix many of the 'bugs' reported)
It also fixes the graphics system from trying to use 16bit modes (that don't exist on modern windows), restores the intro movie, and limits the framerate so the animations don't freeze.

To try it, download this file and unzip to your Casino Inc folder (find it by Right Clicking on the game in Steam then hit Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files. Double click on the exe to run it (don't run it through Steam)

Do not use this fix, I tried to run it twice and both times it soft locked my computer, forcing me to restart.

I didn't take Spooky's post seriously. I should have. I've never seen my system lock up the way it did when I tried that fix.

The game itself was stuck in the top-left corner, still apparently rendering (I could see the animated mouse cursor) but the rest of my desktop fell into this bizarre limbo state where I could mouse over things, highlight files, but I couldn't open menus or navigate folders, and eventually even what limited interaction I had stopped working.

I let it sit for about 10 minutes after I mashed every "get me the ♥♥♥♥ out of this" key-combo I could think of, and then the screen went black with only my mouse cursor visible, and there was nothing else I could do but hit the hard-reset button on my tower.

DO NOT USE THAT FIX. It's beyond just broken, it's *cursed*.

I’ll delete the patch. Obviously it worked for me and some others but the code was a state so I’m not completely surprised it caused some people problems. The game basically expected ancient resolutions like 640x480 to be available that just aren’t on modern monitors. I expect the problem was related to that.

It’s a shame because playing with copy protection actively trashing the game isn’t great for anyone. I expect modifying the config file with the resolution could have fixed it but frankly patching it any further is more trouble than it’s worth.

I haven't got this game (yet) but I feel like a combination of the patch (that's been deleted) and using dgvoodoo to modernise the resolution handling could work. I'd like to try but of course I can't download that patch anymore. Has anyone got it?

Hi daMuzza. Sorry for bothering you, it just seems like you must be the one to have an answer. I just can't understand if I'm just a lowskill or antipiracy bug got me too. Workers are constantly loosing morale and demanding the raise so hard I had to agree to pay them some astronomical (in comparison to average pay) money. I'm also paying them bonuses 2-3 times a day 200 to 900 dollars each, and those are big enough considering it's been only like 15 days since the game has started. I can't spare even 5 minutes doing anything but monitoring their opinion on me since if I will they'll all loose morale and leave the casino like a chain reaction. Working conditions are tolerable imho and they've certainly seen worse without abandoning the ship. Also it seems like the more I play the more intolerable obstacles become, the minute before I've dropped the game my casino was swormed by cheaters, drunks who vomitted everywhere and also some junk epidemy, whole casino turned junkyard from being clean in like 3 minutes. I don't think my only competitor was in any place to orchestrate this since 10 minutes prior I've bombed his casino and that was a massacre/assets damage operation he couldnt've recovered this fast. I really wanted to play this game and enjoy it so excuse my whining and poop grammar (english is not my mother tongue) and please give me an advice: does that sound like I'm doing it wrong or is that an infamous copyprotection?

Couldn't get it to work for me unfortunately I tried Windows compatibility settings with Windows XP as well and that at least played the intro well before it hard-locked my PC. Ended up just reverting to the original, I haven't played it yet so maybe I'll be fine without it but I tried to find a fix before playing since I saw a lot of reviews mentioning the copyright protection.
