Does gas actually work?
Not once have I connected gas to my network / to the valve on a company side and the oil price went up. Not a single time.

Is there some weird trick to it, or did I waste a ton of money?

It lead directly to me losing the game. I now don't like this game.

Seriously, what a load of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I spent $40k for the valve + ~10k in unnecessary pipes trying to hook it up, it gained me absolutely nothing, and i went from clearly in 1st to losing. This absolutely terrible experience turned my review into a thumbs down.

The game is actually very realistic. Welcome to the oil business!

@dontnormally sorry to hear this. Perhaps you can check out this video and see if that clears things up? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJbeWZByX1s

Two things are very important:
- Make sure gas doesn't escape via a rig, and only goes to Left or Right
- It's best to use as much gas as possible at the same time. So if you only connect a small pocket, the effect on the price can be hard to notice. Try to connect multiple gas pockets at the same time.

With gas, it's possible to get the oil price above 3 dollar. If you have stored enough oil to sell at the right price, you should be able to make your investment back, and a lot more.

Hope this helps, let us know! Good luck.

Although I would love to enjoy the gas part of this game I have come to the conclusion its a complete waste of time and money. You have to get all your ducks in a row for what? A 20 second surge that can be too easily mishandled. I can see how the idea of implementing this strategy could add fun and strategy to the game, but in my opinion it still needs some serious tweaks. Some of the upgrades are a complete waste of money. I found the drill speed a waste if I have to pay $500 to activate it (should be a flat rate). Although I have been playing this game all week (quite enjoyable) I find something frustrating about it. Almost like it could be more addictive with just some simple adjustments to the game mechanics. Overspill penalties can be a bit much (and frustrating) when the mechanics seem a bit "off". I see the developer is quite active on the numerous forums I've looked at for this game. Although I applaud your work, it would seem that you use these forums more to defend/explain the game as opposed to using the suggestions that come from it as constructive criticism to help improve the game itself. I do find the weekly challenges for high score to be a great idea.

One thing to remember, sealing off your rigs also seals the connections between all the pipes coming out of them. You have to build connections between your pipe networks outside of the rig itself. It all costs a lot of money but if you're sitting on a lot of oil it's well worth it.

As for mechanics, yeah there's some annoying stuff ($2000 only to start) but it's all there for a reason. The game is about managing time and luck. You'll notice there's almost no passive upgrades in the game (really the spillage timer is the only one). Everything else on some level costs money, that's the heart of the game.

Indeed there is no explanation in the game about the use of gas. And the mayor's advice is useless. The game is very short and is not worth its price, I bought it only with a big discount.

Gas is very profitable. You just have to plan for it from the start. Get the oil tanks and only sell when you need money, otherwise store everything. Run pipes to each gas deposit but not into them, just so it's easy to dig into them when you want. I fyou have the gas compression tech, circle them as early as you can (use the scanner to scan for them early on).

Without gas I get 20-30k. WIth gas I can easily get 40-60k from levels with lots of oil. It's hugely profitable and worth while.
