The stock auction could use a rework
Unlike the land auction, the stock auction seems rushed. I sort of understand the idea of putting in a different kind of auction to make things more interesting, but it doesn't fit.

The value of the shares is all over the place. Sometimes the CPU will buy 4% for 20k, other times for 38k! Sure, it cuts down on the bidding time, but a regular auction gives far more control, and doesn't need to be a slog either (just increase the bids after a while).

Personally I'd much rather go into a regular bidding war against the other CPUs.

Just my 0.02 regarding this mechanic..

Thanks for your feedback, Shaamaan. We understand your concerns. At the same time, we really feel that perhaps a less than perfect auction (ymmv) is important for the variety. The stock auction adds a bit of excitement and drama to the game.

I hate the way it goes as well. I am sure if you put up a poll, you would get an overwhelming response as to how it:
1)Doesn't make sense, isn't intuitive
2)Is rediculously random

I mean, did you have to explain the bidding for land? No, it was intuitive and it made sense. This is just watching it go around and wondering if I clicked too early or too late. In order to not lose I just bid high, and even then I bid 25K for 2%, thats the equivalent of you holding an auction for a sandwich and me coming straight out the gates with an offer for $200, when everybody else wasn't even thinking about bidding higher than $5.

old thread but truth. I stopped caring about this complete RNG-STocks auction. I have fun digging up oil and getting upgrades. Not playing an illogical wheel of luck with AIs. otherwise a really funny game.

One problem is the get all the shares achievements. Those are irritating to do with the AIs being unpredictable, and you could invest in putting in a lot of hours just for the AIs to wreck it with one casual bid.
I think it should have been bid up on existing bids instead of the existing system.
