But, I could be mistaken. Pretty sure I read that on one of the Devs posts, though.
It most certainly is not a polished remake...
Please read the description of the game on it's store page.
This has way too many newer features to even begin to call a polished remake.
FF6 on Steam is a polished and uglier remake of FF6 the GBA version.
It combined the original into essentially a triology. While adding and modifying it.
Well, it's more The Prequel, the original, and the Sequel all rolled into one.
The world somewhat overlaps with before, but only somewhat (as in world map)
Think of this more of a divergent timeline scenario than either a prequel or sequal
The blurb on the store page says it's a combination of the Prequel, the Original, and the Sequel all in one.
So, it may overhaul the system and the story, but it's not a divergent timeline.
The whole game is about divergent timelines being brought together through the void
Hence the small army of yous
