Hosting your own dedicated server
Hosting your own Mean Greens server is a very simple process. Here's what you need to do.

Before you begin
Make sure Steam is not running on the machine you are planning on running the server.

You can also run multiple instances of the server on a single machine, each instance uses about 600mb of ram

Please note that if you are hosting more than one instance on a machine you will need to change the port number that's being used in the batch file.

Also if you are on a home network make sure that your firewall is not blocking the ports.

Starting your server
Navigate to your install directory. By default it will look something like this: Steam\steamapps\common\The Mean Greens - Plastic Warfare\

In this install directory there's a folder called MeanGreensUserServer.

Inside this folder you fill see a batch file called HostServer.bat if you right click on this file and click EDIT you will be able to adjust the name of your hosted server.

Simply look for the text that reads
-ServerName="User Server"

Change the text that's inside the quotations, save and exit.

Then simply run the batch file and you're server will now be playable!

If you would like to increase your player count, simply add the tag

-MaxPlayers=40

If you would like to password protect your dedicate server add this tag

-ServerPassword="Password Goes Here"

Enjoy, and thanks for playing The Mean Greens

Will there be any API for the server so that users can develop server-side plugins? If so, I'll be hosting a number of servers for this game.

Been trying to setup a dedicated server, also receiving the register server message and can't see the server when browsing on a separate computer.

The ports are open on the computer running the server right?

ive been trying to get a server up and running for over a month now!
absolutely nothing is working!
me and 2 other friends have all been trying as we really want to play this game at a LAN party coming up soon.

both dedicated server and hosting a game does not work for any of us.
ive seen nothing but comments on people not being able to do it and have not seen 1 post or guide of something showing it working.

i have disabled firewalls on both my pc and laptop (ive tried running server from one machine and game from the other) i have port forwarded and all that.

when running the .BAT file i get 2 YELLOW lines of text both of which i do not understand.
1st is:

0]LogUObjectGlobals: Warning: Class /Script/Engine.NavigationSystem is not a child class of Class /Script/Engine.NavigationSystemBase

and the one at the end always says:

[2019.03.04-12.05.57:926][ 0]LogOnline: Warning: RegisterServer

nothing happens after that.

we just want to get this game working for Offline LAN but as i cannot find any info on this ive been trying to get this dedicated server up and running but there no real guide/help

you guys just say " run the BAT file and have ports open" this does not help.

what are all the prerequisites? what does these messages in the server mean?
can we please get a video on exactly how to do this?
is there a way to say, open a console and connect to a LAN hosted game?

PLEASE HELP the game is awesome and we cant wait to play it together.

The yellow lines of text are normal.

As for running a server offline, I don't know if that's possible since it uses steam's system to connect everything which may require an internet connection. I'm not 100% sure on this though and I'll message our programmer to see if that's possible
dirteebreaks 4 MAR 2019 a las 9:19 p. m.
Ok well i managed to get it working online.
The reason it was not working for me is that the default server name in the
BAT file had "" marks either side of ot it, so my server name was "Dirteebreaks_server" which does not work at all. Removing the quotation marks fixed it and now ther server shows up.

But yeah LAN does not work at all. Even though the server is seen in steam on my local ip, it fails to join. It will only connect to my external ip and definitely needs ports open.
This is a shame for our LAN party as we are not allowed access to our router's admin. :(

LAN support would be the best

I confirmed with the programmer that an online connection is required by the server

@jamie kruautkremer thanks for posting this guide for the dedicated server, works great. i'm currently hosting the PwNSquad Server. I would like to increase the Tick Rate from the factory 60hz to 140hz.. what is the flag i need to add to the batch file?

In the past with Unreal Servers, you would just do NetServerMaxTickRate=140 inside your Engine.ini file, but i can't seem to find that file in the Mean Greens steam folder.

thanks for any help

Hi we are currently running to servers. How can you kick players/hackers?
Is there any sort of admin interface or console?

Currently the only way is to vote kick on the main menu, but we're working on some admin tools
