The controls are aweful and apparently it's really delayed from when you press a button to when an action happens.
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with Bee Bop.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to reproduce any of the control or instability issues you have been encountering.
So that I can understand your problem better, could you please confirm the following:
Thank you,
Team17_Assistance
The second video shows more of the ground attacks, just running into the enemy pressing the button to attack will kill them apparently, but in this video I rapidly press the boost/jump and at one point the bee just falls straight into the water after 2-3 jumps (quick pressing and the game fails to recognize that the button is pressed). Neither video show when I have gotten stuck after an attack as that's a bit harder to actually force to occur, but may be related to quick button pressing.
Third video in the folder is showing a different issue I pointed out in another thread, basically Yooka is constantly in that "drop into the water" animation, even while swimming, until at some point it stops and plays the correct animation.
So World 3 minigame, seems as though not enough time at all is given to get more than 4000 points.
World 4, score is essentially impossible to reach without being hit, which you lose too many quills for and is proportionate to the amount you have, but also you could hit an enemy which causes you to fall off the screen and take a second quill loss. Not even sure rolling is useful since right after using it you are slowed down to the back of the screen, so any ground gained is lost.
World 5 pretty much same as world 4 minigame, but also the fact that you are constantly moving across the screen, having to periodically force yourself back to the left side of hte screen.
I will say the World 1 minigame was also annoying, but appears to only be possible if you take the bridge and don't fall into the water once, but at least it can be beaten relatively easy once you take that route (cuts it pretty close though, not taking that route you get around 2:45, but taking that route you get around 2:25 maybe, I think I got 2:28 on it).
World 2 minigame was the only one without issue, actually I would have beaten it in the first go if high score was counted at that time.
The only Kartos challenge that was an issue was World 4, you pretty much have to get all gold gems and not get hit. the kicker though was that after passing through the goal the fire walls could still damage you and cause you to lose gems, if you didn't have 155 or more then you'd lose. The boss right after could probably do with a little better spacing on some of the bombs, also he doesn't seem to always attack which one time I was stuck in this loop until finally dying (it seems as though if you hit any of the first few bombs he drops then he won't attack, but will if it was one of the last ones he drops).
The slide challenge right outside World 5, that for sure should probably have a static camera, the tight space and closeness of objects really seems to mess with it.
Oh the slidey/fishtailing snow plow, really annoying, because you don't expect a snow plow to act like that. Would be nice if holding the control stick back would cause you to back up I think that's been people's main issue with it.
I hope some of this helps with any fixes in the game and I glad that you guys are responding to these issues. To be clear the only 3 pagies I do not have are the World 3-5 minigame highscores.
I have enjoyed the game a lot though, quite honestly I feel most reviews were way too harsh especially considering it's not like banjo kazooie didn't have some of the same issues but it was rated very well (it had such bad camera controls, far worse than this imo). Keep up the good work though, I hope some fixes start coming in soon, I know you guys are working hard compiling lists of possible issues and figuring out the importance of them.
My apologies for the delay in responding to your reply and thank you for the extensive detail to which you have gone into.
I will do my best to respond to each bit, so apologies if I miss out any section or sections within your reply.
- Regarding the original issues with Bee Bop. Unfortunately, after reviewing your videos and attempting to reproduce the problems again, there doesn't appear to be any problems with the game. We would, however, like to offer you some tips (later on, as to cover each of the 3 arcade games you are yet to complete).
- Regarding the water bobbing issue, I have also been unable to reproduce this myself. So that I may better understand the issue, could you please respond with the following information:
- The frequency with which this issue occurs
- Whether it occurs in any other large bodies of water in different worlds
- Whether you land in a specific manner to cause the problem to occur
- The camera that is used in the slide challenge within the Hub world is as intended. However, I will pass your feedback onto the developers for them to review. This also applies to the snow plow's control method and the fire obstacles on Kartos' challenge in Capital Cashino.
- Tips for the arcade games.
- Bee Bop - to beat Bee Bop I'd like to suggest two things. Firstly, practice the game repeatedly in 1 player via the main menu, so you get a feel for the game and the handling of the Bee. Secondly, speed and accuracy is key to beating Rextro's high score so try to stay airborne when moving from one side of the map to the other, strike the minions then move onto the next one.
- Hurdle Hijinx - the simplest tip I can give for this, aside from practice again, is to follow the quills. This is considered the best route and generally leads you through the best path and to certain power ups. As for the use of Reptile Roll, only use this if you've accidentally clipped part an obstacle, and slowed yourself down, so you can quickly get back to a safe distance from the back of the level.
- Up 'n' Nova - this one is indeed tricky, so the best suggestion here is practice, practice, practice and try and learn the best route, specifically when to gain some height and when to stay low. I can assure you that all high scores are achievable so best of luck with them all.
I hope this information has proved useful to you and thank you again for the detail you went into. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused and hopefully you can not get those final few Pagies.Thank you,
Team17_Assistance
I too am having these problems.
I don't know if this is just me though sometimes it seems I can jump multiple times if I don't hit a direction button either. It does however make moving difficult.
I think part of the problem is the game doesn't give any specific instructions for how many times the player can jump or boost. Like Cynbel, I too can jump sometimes multiple times in succession and other times only once, it does not seem to be consistent in anyway.
Is the game meant to let the player fly continously if the jump button is pressed repeatedly because sometimes I have been able to do that, other times not?
The controls do feel really slipperly, is this intentional?
Sometimes I have been able to jump from a corner platform and up and over to the platform above it, though this is very rare.
I do wonder if this is something to do with game settings.
I have previously had problems with Murky Passage and the final boss fight as they wouldn't load correctly and then discovered that some parts of my game only load or work properly if I have it set to the right settings. The final boss fight only loads if I have it set to 'simple' and Murky Passage, only if I have it set to 'fastest' in the display settings. I have tried to experiment with settings to see which work best for bee bop though I haven't found them yet.
I don't quite know the difference between the two. I'm trying to pick the settings that make it easy for my system to load as I wonder if some of these problems are just down to not running the game at the optimal settings. However the game still does not say how many times a person can jump in bee bop or explain the inconsistency issue.
Hello cardinalfire,
Thank you for the response and the the additional information you have provided.
As you have mentioned having issues with the settings in-game, having to change them when loading into specific areas of the game, are you able to provide us with a copy of your system information?
If you do not know how to obtain this information, please refer to our step by step technical guide located here:

Once we have received this file we can then assist with resolving issues you have encountered.
Thank you for your continued support,
