Banjo-Tooie had massive levels much like this game did; it also had warp pads that allowed much quicker access to key areas of the levels, which Yooka-Laylee never brought back but could've easily benefit from. The lack of fast travel extends to the HUB area as well, which even the first game had with the cauldrons in Gruntilda's Lair. Every single Dr. Puzz transformation I found less enjoyable than the termite from Banjo 1.
These are just a few examples of what I mean by this.
