Co-op in single campaign?
Hi devs! Today I bought a game and tried play in co-op with my brother. But I was dissapointed - he can't do anything. He just have a cursor with beetles, for catching baterflies. I thought, that second player will can possible make some tricks with Laylee.. Maybe we doing something wrong?
Thank you!

I heard the coop is Mario Galaxy ish. In short, 2nd player DOES control a cursor.

This - it's very much a support role.

I'm sorry if you were expecting more Harrison. One thing i've been doing when I play in the office with my colleagues is taking turns after each Pagie we grab. It's not perfect, but it's a fun way to mix things up whilst using the Bee Team.

They said the co-op was a "B (bee) team" to help with getting the hard-to-reach items.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Ok, thank you for answers. It was my first impressions (only 2hr). Today we'll try play more in coop.

It's co-op in a similar way as Super Mario Galaxy. The second player controls a cursor that operates separately from Mario, can collect items and interact with certain hazards (traps). It's interesting in its own right insofar as it gives a passive audience an option for a (albeit limited) active role should they choose.

Given the nature of the game, I'm okay with this. Other co-op options that I've seen in other games, or others have listed here, seem like a poor fit for the game (my opinion only, and I normally LOVE co-op). These include...
- Tag in with swaps between characters (odd because the characters are a team and don't operate separately in any functional way)
- Take turns at certain points (just as easily accomplished by handing over the controller after X has happened, which is what I've been doing with "X" meaning a Paigie retrieval or character death)
- Split-screen with multiple Yookas and Laylees (especially odd, but maybe a fit for some)
- Competitive play swapping (not co-op, but a decent local multiplayer option similar to Super Mario Bros. 3, where a successful completion of a mission or a death triggers a swap to the other player for an attempt to tackle the challenge and improve upon the performance of the other player)

I have little suggestion for co-op, but not sure, that this will be easy for devs. Would be cool, if we can do tricks together. For example:

"Friendly kick" (stomp) (do not know how to call it on the english = s)
First player need make jump, second player need press button for make this trick. I think, that this will be cool. Yes, little difficulty, need a lot of team work. But this will be very fun.
Also, only second player can use "sprint" (wheel by Yooka), because this trick make Laylee.

Generally, I mean, that you need give control for tricks from the Laylee for second player.

Something like this doesn't seem completely impossible to implement in a feasible way, even if it'd still be rudimentary... just map all Laylee's actions to the second controller (the sonar, double-jumping, flying) with exactly the same functionality as in single-player mode, but now it suddenly requires cooperation.

Another idea to expand this (heh :P) would be to add some co-op-only moves to make co-op feel superior, like if both players press [attack] at the same time you instantly go to the third hit in the attack combo.

Oh, and of course playing in this mode should make both players play separate characters in the Rextro minigames (but share points).

If I understood correctly, then it sounds like a great idea.

Wait. This is all? Being a cursor? That is definitely not interesting in it's own right. You realize that having pictures of the two characters strongly suggests being able to play both of them in co-op!? I even bought that crap based on this assumption. I want to call the developers names at this point. Please feel personally insulted.
