Actions speak louder than words. While he says, "I wish them the best of luck", that's him saving face. His removal sparked hundreds of people demanding refunds and chargebacks. So yeah, maybe it wasn't JonTron who turned off consumers, it was Playtonic by removing him.
He didn't say he only played an hour. He literally said he wouldn't play it any more. As in, it's so bad that he can't be bothered to play past an hour.
Erik Kain isn't depressed. He's one of the few reviewers/games media that many gamers actually trust. When most other reviewers like Polygon and Kotaku care only about shoving agendas and blowing sunshine up the ass of AAA companies, Kain and TotalBiscuit are very pro-consumer.
Good balanced review! Quite a few sites gave it top marks looking at metacriric! I've even asked PCGamer to update their review after the patch, hope they do!
I'm really excited for Yooka layee now, and anyway, who cares what that fat boglin loving foul mouth says about this lovely little game anyway hey? ;-)
Not really sure who this Mitch Wallace is. He literally been at Forbes for 2 weeks and has 6 articles to date LOL I dunno why they published his review as their "official" review (if they even did) and not Erik Kain who has been at Forbes for 6 years.
I can neither confirm, nor deny who I was referring to.
But I can confirm this person is more than probably making love to his boglins right now as I type this!
Back on topic, seems to me some reviewers just decided this type of game isn't to their taste from the start. I have no doubt a lot of people are going to have A LOT of fun with Yooka LAylee!
So, he plays the game for an hour and then makes an almost half-hour video dumping on it?
Nah, I'm good.
The reviewers I like are people like PBG, Brutalmoose, SpaceHamster, etc. The Completionist, someone I really like, said he loved the game and it felt exactly like Banjo-Kazooie.
So, it got me excited and I really feel like I'm gonna like it.
However, I can understand that it's not some people's cup of tea.
I feel like it was really made to be exactly like an old Rare N64 game, not to modernized the formula.
So this is what I'm expecting. :)
Fair enough. I only watched the first minute or so of it, but decided it was garbage.
You know, the same way this guy "reviewed" the game. <3
And have a minimum of at least 30 years of gaming experience to even be allowed to open your mouth and spew an opinion on the subject matter.
Maybe I should become a 'reviewer' and cash in on all that gross incompetence of the majority of the population.
My biggest complaint with Snake Pass is the camera. If this is fixed, I'll wait and see. I don't mind the voice stuff.
There's a difference between simply not playing the game for an hour due to laziness and rushing out a review, and in being SO turned off by the game that you don't play any more than that. That's what I was referencing. Didn't think I'd have to explain it.
Interesting that you skimmed a few videos and made a judgement about his mental health. Didn't you just complain about him playing the game only an hour? LOL
Well, Forbes has kept him around for over 6 years. So he's obviously doing SOMETHING right...
Nobody said he was good by proxy. In the past, though, he's done a good job researching/playing titles and giving them fair reviews. Amazing that you "skim a few videos" and have made a judgement on not only his mental health, but his ability as a reviewer.... all of this AFTER criticizing him for not spending enough time on something before making a judgement.
No, see, he's built up my trust over the course of 6 years as a game journalist of which I've followed him for 3. And I've noted that most of the time, we share a similar taste in games. Him getting sick of this game after an hour has nothing to do with it. Sorry that you can't use straw man arguments with me. :)
That's fair. I'll take the opinions of a huge publication like Forbes over someone who's crying because someone didn't say they liked a video game LOL
I trust his "premature judgement" because, as I said, I've watched/read him for several years and we share similar tastes in games. Pointing out that you're a laughable complete hypocrite has nothing to do with me liking him nor why I like him. Hope that helps. :)
