All this drama is just promoting the game

All these people threatening Playtonic to refund or pirate the game. Trying to give this game negative publicity and creating drama. Are just promoting this game and even giving it a lot of attention in the media. So people who don't give a sh*t about Jontron or haven't got a problem with Playtonic distancing themselves from his controversial views. And wouldn't have known about this game otherwise. Now draw their attention to it. Resulting in the game getting potentially increased sales.

I most certainly know that I'm only here and getting interested in the game, because of the drama bringing me here. So please guys, let your hater bandwagon continue. And give this game a free marketing campaign.

Edit: Certain people keep telling me that all publicity doesn't equal to good publicity. Trying to imply that the current controversy includes any bad publicity.

it's standard SJW forum control.

led them rage for 2-3 days, then mass lock threats and force all discussion of it in to a single topic that is pinned at the beginning.

then after a few days it gets unpineed and more heavily moderated where they start banning all "off topic discussions" posters and eventually they will lock the topic and ban all discussion on the subject, and after yet a few more days they will delete the now locked topic.

Werid, sounds similar to the same tactic the Jontron subreddit mods used. Locked the entire forum and kept things limited to a few topics. Then unlocked and unpinned the threads, banning discussion on the subject(Jon's politic views).


Never figured they were SJWs, but I guess they come in all sizes and shapes.

Did the exact opposite for me. This game was going to be a day 1 buy. It's now a $5 steam sale buy, if I even buy it all. I don't care for JonTron or his content and never did. What I do care is when game devs get political for no good damn reason and start cutting people based on their personal views differing from what they deem to be "correct". By cuttting JonTron, they made a political statement and politicized Yooka-Laylee. I refuse to support this kind of action.

This drama is giving the game more exposure, but not in the good way. I know for fact there are many others changing their minds about buying this game after this.

OP I couldn't agree with you more. I had never even heard of this game before I saw news articles on this controversy and how so many gamers were throwing temper tantrums over poor, poor JonTron. So I decided to check out the game and I can't wait to get it release day! Cheers everyone!

Exactly. Just like people getting angry at my thread and posting in here are ultimately just bumping my thread and giving me publicity. That's the whole principle that I'm trying to explain here.

The only publicity this game is getting is bad.

I like Jon Tron and I do not agree with their reasons for removing him based on his personal opinions but I respect their right to do so and I still think this game looks outstandingly good.

But am I going to buy it after the way Playtonic has treated it's backers?.. The very people that give them the capability to make this game in the first place.. the people they owe everything to right now..

I don't care how good Yooka-Laylee looks.. I don't care how good it is.. and I don't care how much I want to play it.
I'm not paying and supporting a company that treats it's supporters like a totalitarian dictator would..
