It certainly didn't help matters with the overblown public decrying of JonTron that made Team17 come out looking like the bad guys. I don't want to support them ever again because of that little fiasco, no matter how small JonTron's part was. Cancel culture is horrible, and Team17 was completely out of line to participate in it.
On the other hand, every corporation or person has the right to terminate working with someone for their beliefs. Brands and companies don't want to be associated with stupid things or worse, whether that's the white placement conspiracy or saying all blacks are born criminals. They, have the right to distance themselves, that's freedom of speech. Is the stupidest reason to criticize this extremely bad game. Always has been.
Free speech is an all or nothing deal. Period.
The world you're suggesting, that you are forced to work with me, forced to hire me, regardless of whatever I scream at you for however long I want, sounds deeply authoritarian. I'd suggest you reconsider your beliefs.
