Run and Fire

Run and Fire

No English? HERES WHY!
so i know as frustrating it must be for us, the rights for the english game has been witheld from the developers. for now only spanish (phyrok) and russian (RAF - run and fire) "ports" of the original game exsists.

to give you guys a litle background: the game we are talking about came to life on a site named ijji under the name "genesis ad". it went through the first closed beta there and it was amazing (i am one of the firs beta testers). then ijji closed down and all games got transfered to aeria games, including genesis ad. then aeria games renamed the game to "repulse" and put it into another beta and lastly to an open beta to stress test its servers. shortly after that they announced that they are terminating the game, reasons not really known.

THIS is the point where things go interesting. aeria games didnt sell any rights to the closed game, as far as i know, but korean versions may have. so somehow, texyon games got their hands on and made the game "phyrok" which is basicly repulse, only in spanish, with no english translation to be seen in the future. and now we get this game, run and fire, which is again just repulse, only in russian with no english translation.

and that means AERIA GAMES still holds the rights to the english version, but not really working on bringing it back to life. now, i dont know if pushing on aeria games to revive the game would do any good, but magic does happen everyday somewhere in the world, and with enough interest, they might consider doing the right thing, that is reviving the game or selling the rights to it.

please discuss this matter, and someone with a bit more knowledge, please tell me if its possible to bring this beast of a game back to life.

how is it possible to have the rights to the same game under different languages? it doesn't make sense...

ok, so just translate Run and Fire into english. then, it's the english version of run and fire, not the english version of the game owned by Aeria games. sure, same mechanics and all that, but the english words would be obtained through the russian translation instead of the original script. see the rediculousness here?

what if we changed the words up a bit, would it be a different english version and thus not owned by aeria games, or does earia games own the rights to all possible iterations of the english translation? if so, then what if the script was replaced by random words, or with the script of shakespear's play? What about dialect? can you own a version of a game in old english but not modern english?

for that matter, how much of the original game would have to change before it was no longer considered the same game, thus allowing an english translation?

i swear, the things people do for money.

what you said makes sense, so much in fact that im starting to doubt what really happened here. what i typed in the original post was my fair guess from my point of view, but as you can probably see i dont have the knowhow to really understand what happened with this game. but i still shink it would be a good idea to poke around at aeria games to atleast get a statement of what is happening

for all intensive purposes, i wouldn't be surprised one bit if you were correct. in fact, i expect you to be. I'm just expressing frustration at the laws and policies surrounding what rights can be sold.

especially since in the next thread over a developer explains "As we already explained in other threads, we have rights only for the Russian version of the game."

Steam should give us the option to choose not to see any games that are not available in English (or your main language).

someone should really contact aeria games about this matter, maybe it will set things moving

What doesnt make any sense to me is the title is in Englsh. Seems like something a terrorist would do.

You are absoluetly correct, by the way. I call it "bait and switch". they got my money now and I cant play the game without stopping at each dialog point and translate.

non-english native speakers tend to know several languages, including english. funny to see english speakers reactions when games are suggested to them without being localized in english yet all the non english speaking audiences had to deal with games exclusively localized in english since ever

they're both pretty, and if you already speak a latin language it'll be easier for you to learn spanish than russian

my primary language is slovenian, and i can understand what a russian guy is trying to say to me in certain points, but its still far from easy to learn, probably

I remember playing this game during the testing phase when it was first announced. It was a blast, trust me. Areia Games have their own reasons for stopping the game, but the should really give over the English rights.
