TeamViewer issues - Close it before running game!
A lot of users are seeing issues when trying to run the game while TeamViewer is active in the background. We HIGHLY recommend that you close the application down before running Into the Stars!

For other issues/potential solutions please see this thread:

I have never heard of this TeamViewer thing. :p

I don't have team viewer it's ntoa huge deal to ahve to close it down, but in realty you need to find a way to resolve this so it can run and the game simultenously. 2015 it's not acceptable to have to close small applications that are idle in order to run a game.
Catteni Jul 9, 2015 @ 3:22pm
2 things....

1 team viewers is not a small application... it takes a good ammount of resources as it isn't a streaming program it has a LOT more working including the ability to let someone else control your computer from thier phone/tablet/laptop/pc... i used it to play hearthstone on my kindle before they had a mobile version of the game personally... but even then i agree... you shouldn't have to tuen it off....

2 team viewer is FAR from evil thier developement and support team is actually really great... if you want to survive you shouldn't be badmouthing a very popular and powerful tool... you should be contacting them and asking them if they have any tips on how thier program works to tweak your program around it's functionality or give them some information about how yours works and they may even patch thier program in a way that allows it to work with your game

^^^ Not badmouthing, just trying to make clear that it's causing a lot of issues for our users.

We'll certainly look into the issues and do everything we can to resolve.

@Catteni I'm sure the dev meant it in a tongue in cheek fashion rather than badmouthing as such. Still I agree the title of the thread shoudl be more professional maybe? TeamViewer Compatability Issues or something to that effect
Catteni Jul 9, 2015 @ 3:44pm
i submitted a ticket with them to see if they could message the devs and give them a nudge in the right direction on compatability... directed them to this thread... i have hopes for this game but not at it's current price tag... still following it and several forum discussions here @ launch to see how things go.. it seems like it's going to be great but not willing to sink $20 into it just yet... still watching and maybe something will tip me in favor of early access at that price but i haven;t found my hook yet

I have. Our game Starpoint Gemini 2 had similar problems. And some people mentioned team viewer problems on Elite Dangerous forums so it's Team Viewer.

Don't get me wrong, Team Viewer is a fantastic piece of software, but it can conflict with some games.

Teamviewer replied BTW hopefully this helps... if you don't feel comfortable editing your registry i don't blame you especially from a random forum post however i'm sure you can contact them yourself if you're having issues with this specific string and ask them about it's authenticity... would be nice if one of the devs would contact them and confirm this and possibly look into what that registry entry does to possibly make a workaround in the game code to avoid w/e the issue is and possibly fix any other issues along that line and make the entire game more friendly to other applications...

if the devs would like the ticket ID to streamline the contact process just PM me or give me a way to contact you directly with the Ticket ID

anyway the message and HOPEFULLY fix... (i don't own the game as yet so i can't bug test but i wouldn't mind a key to help out... the $20 is a little out of my gaming budget atm as i've had to preorder fallout 4 and i'm trying to tuck away another $60 for No Man's Sky since i don't know the price...)

Dear Catteni,

thank you for your message.

Please

- stop TeamViewer service (task manager, service tab)

- open regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TeamViewer (for 32bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TeamViewer (for 64bit)

- create a DWORD named "EnableHooks". Leave the value at zero.

- start TeamViewer service

Please check if you still get the crash or if the behavior is different this way. Thank you.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Best regards

Thanks for the info Catteni.

We won't personally recommend people alter their registry to get someone else's piece of software to function alongside our game (for obvious reasons, it's not our software to mess with.) However if they're having issues and don't want to close Teamviewer, contacting Teamviewer themselves is what I would suggest.

Cheers!

no worries and everyone else... safety first/// definately confirm this action or ANY action in regedit with a legitimate source before just trying it... ever...
