The controls can't be customized and that's a big issue, would also help if the pickup and advance dialog button was the same as the action one
Another bug that I had in my previous playthrough but forgot to mention was when using the AI reconfigure on an enemy, it's moving animation was glitched and when it opened the door, it actually duplicated the enemy
There's no way to keep track of the different paths you took in different playthroughs, the different endings you've obtained
Hope the devs are reading this...
-you can hear the man screaming help in video tape 2 (maybe not a bug)
-character moves when selecting cassettes or video tapes *controller mode*
-upon trying to fire the pistol, it reloaded the weapon despite it being full and thus wasting ammo
Feedback/Personal Opinions:
- Getting tired is annoying
- Controls cannot be customized
- Dialog cannot be skipped
- when using a controller, selecting items in the inventory would be better if it did not use a cursor. In fact, even in mouse+keyboard mode, the mouse is barely useful, you can only use it in the inventory, maybe point and click controls would have been good.
- Entire game is ruined if you die, needing to restart everything from the beginning, it needs a chapter selection of some sort, which shows all possible outcomes (only when discovered first hand)
-if you hear a monster, you can just go in and out of the room, they spawn randomly, so you will just explore when it's not there. Personally I would rather find a weapon early and have to defeat the enemies, and so have them spawn not randomly
Part of me likes this game but it's too glitchy to be enjoyable
A lot of the glitches are caused by Game Maker, since it is not really possible to achieve what we planned on the engine without hiccups such as some save problems, audio is really not that well made in the engine... Or at least it was with the version we have been using 2 years ago, some things look improved right now.
I bought it on sale, so I shouldn't complain, it's just that I wasn't expecting so many bugs
thanks for your answer
I've encountered similar problems as OP and some other ones (not understanding what to do, no y/n prompts for one-way actions like going to sleep or spending money, no stamina indicator, unnecessary 'space' binding (why don't use 'E' for everything?), no explanation of time mechanic etc).
Honestly, it looks like bad design to me.
Also agree that <space> binding is redundant as it is. I fail to see why it is needed. I end up meshing both <E> and <space> to see if either works.
Apart from those nitpicks, though, I find the game quite fun as it is. There are occasional bugs, but nowadays I don't see a game w/o bugs anyway.
Is this like that game Home? Just a walking simulator that plays itself out? Am I winning, am I losing? Are there goals really? I haven't a clue, it's very odd. It has great atmosphere, I feel like it's intending to be a horror type game? I'd be much more afraid if I felt like I had some sort of agency over the situation, the game seems very whimsical like I'm just watchin a really weird movie.
