The Key of Time [/Spoilers]

I chose to take the Key of Time and visited all 8 temples. When you talk to all 8 Old Men the Key of Time becomes the Key of Light which has the description "Something will happen when this is brought to the altar." Once I had the key I was able to open up the center door (altar?) in the far back of the temple but nothing is there. Am I missing something or did my game bug out?

The order I opened the temples was 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 2 and 3. I initially opened the 8 temples while only having 2 of the 3 of the Tower artifacts destroyed. I went back after destroying the third but it is still empty.

Edit: Tried using the key in the grey area. Nothing happened.

Edit 2: Figured it out. Using the key in the center of the area works. I just had a full inventory...

Go stand in the center of the white area and use the key (can be found under key items)

I'm still not sure what destroying the Tower artifacts does.

I didn't even think to try using the actual item. Thanks!

EDIT: Used the key in the center. Says "They Key of Time glows with a dull light." Nothing happens afterward.

Did you check your inventory for a new weapon afterwards?

And didn't you say you had the Key of Light in the first post?

Apparently I am stupid and had a full inventory. Dumped an item and it worked just fine. Thanks for the help!
