There's no "Partial controller support". In fact, it has less than no controller support--it actively prevents Steam's custom controller-to-key-mapping from working.

If you want to use a controller, do not buy this game.

Since Adoru mentioned a specific niche pad working, I did some more testing (read: I bought a cheap stickless gamebad from 8bitdo) and whaddaya know, it works with this game.

I'm extremely curious as to why some controllers work and some do not. It's pretty strange to support Bob's Brand Gamepad but not support relatively ubiquitous controllers. Granted, the game is a bit old, but not older than a PS4, Xbox 1, or Xbox 360.

I've run the game with a wired Xbox One controller, a Dualshock 4, and a Dualsense 5. I've tried using Steam's controller configuration and disabling it to let the game do whatever it wants with the hardware. Nada. Zip. Zero.

About the only thing I haven't tried is using an external program like Autohotkey to remap the controller inputs to keyboard buttons. (I tried doing that with Steam's configuration options, but we already covered that.)

Fow whatever one more anecdote is worth: I have a wii-u pro controller with an adaptor (the pc sees it as an xbox 360 controller) and it works fine, I didn’t need to mess with anything.

I started this game and other than select being triangle it worked 100 out of the box with my PS4 controller. This is almost a year later so maybe steam updated something, but its working for me just fine

That's strange, I tried using a PS4 controller and none of buttons work correctly.

The D-pad does nothing
Both joysticks do nothing
In fact the only buttons that do anything are Triangle moves up & "X" moves down.

I've been holding off on actually playing the game hoping there will be a fix for why the controller is not working.

XBone + XBox 360 controller work. They work by default with RPG Maker games in general. Otherwise, there's always Joy2Key.
