Game not working

Everytime I try to run the game it doesn't start. Instead it deletes the PegasusPrimeProxy.exe then tries to update the game. It stops updating and says the "Content File Locked". I can fix this issue and get it to download anyway, but it just deletes it again and the cycle starts anew. The one time I did get it to run, the screen was zoomed in and the "exit" option on the bottom of the menu was cut off from view. I have 14 days to resolve this issue before I'm forced to refund this excellent game :(

Hi Kalvash,

Not sure why pegasusMessageProxy.exe is getting deleted-- do you have an antivirus utility enabled? The proxy application shouldn't be getting flagged as malware-- all it does is launch Pegasus Prime.exe and facilitate communication to Steam (so things like achievements and controllers work). I'm glad you're able to find a workaround, but I'm interested in finding out the root cause. If you get the proxy to download anyway and run the game by double-clicking pegasusMessageProxy.exe manually, does the game then launch OK?

Regarding the zoomed-in screen, it sounds like the game is having trouble properly changing screen resolutions. It's supposed to use the same resolution as your desktop, but in case that's not working, you have a couple of options:

1) You can press Alt-Enter to play the game in windowed mode.

2) You can open the game's ini file (located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Pegasus Prime\Pegasus Prime.ini) and, under the [scummvm] header, add:
last_fullscreen_mode_width=1280
last_fullscreen_mode_height=800
You can also change those width and height values to any valid display resolution your screen supports.

So I can get the game to start consistently now, but the size is still off. I tried adding what you suggested to the ini file but it didn't seem to change anything. Also using Alt+Enter makes the entire screen very small. I wonder if overscan is a problem since I am using a TV instead of a monitor. Native resolution should be 1920x1080.
I also got the game to work fine at the correct size once (don't know how and cant replicate it) but the game was very laggy

I should also mention that when I did have it working the mouse was all over the place. The slightest movement made it jump across the screen then flicker a bit.

What are the specs of your system? Can you please copy/paste the information given in Steam's "System Information" window (from the Help menu)?

Pegasus Prime requires a minimum screen resolution of 640x480-- does the game perform any better or worse if you change to that resolution (or similar) before launching?

I found this topic while trying to get the game working on my 4k monitor, one of three monitors I have connected (and I saw overscan issues). While not perfect, finding the EXE and going to Properties > Compatibility > 640x480 worked for me!
