Hi everyone!

It's been a really long time since I released some changes of my own for the game, but the recent Russian localization gave me a welcome push to re-familiarize myself with everything. Today I'm making a beta branch available in Steam that will hold the latest version that I'm working on, which hasn't quite reached the point where I want it to be the default public version of the game.

To access it, simply right click the game under your Steam library: select Properties, and then the Beta tab in the properties window, and then "development" in the dropdown list. The game should update itself with the newer version.

I'm writing this partially just to be more transparent since I know I've been absent from the forum 99.9999% of the time. But also, if there's an issue you're experiencing that is listed under here as resolved, it might be worth trying out the beta version and seeing if that helps you with your issue!

Version 1.3

Note: To use this version, make sure the language "English" is selected in the game properties menu. The build associated with Russian is using the default version, not 1.3!

A lot of the notable changes in this version were actually made in the ill-fated 1.2, which had to be rolled back due to some complications:

  • Collision has been reworked, adding smooth movement when walking into corner tiles. No more getting snagged on one pixel of a wall!
  • With the collision rework, you can now go near Gwen's axe or the pillow in Xu's room without being launched out of the playable area
  • A couple of small visual issues have been fixed - for example, while Xu is following you and cannot be interacted with, a speech bubble does not appear.
  • Some longstanding typos have finally been fixed

There were some issues that sprouted up with that version which I had to resolve. In addition, some other changes have been made:

  • The game's language can now be changed in-game within the menu - just select English or Russian at any point in the new "Languages" tab!
  • Made collision around some of the stairs more forgiving, so NPCs don't get stuck in them (still monitoring this to make sure other related issues don't emerge)
  • Fixed minor issues with Darryl/Alton mindreading
  • Fixed issues with observation window / outside scenery not displaying properly when the time of day transitions
  • Changed Quella's theme in chapter 3 temporarily to remove probably the most jarring/out of place musical transition in the game. Her theme will go back to normal after a certain point
  • Made it so you can't keep looping through a critical piece of dialogue with Xu in chapter 4 over and over
  • Made it so a certain important dialogue option with Marcurio doesn't appear until certain criteria have been met

Version 1.3.1

The development build has been updated with the following changes:

  • When the user selects a new resolution, a confirmation message pops up that the user has to respond to, otherwise the game will revert to the original resolution.
  • For those that have resolutions that aren't in the settings list, or for whom the resolutions are a bit off, a "Detect ideal resolution" option has been added to settings which should set the game to the size of the user's current resolution.
  • Full screen buttons are now accessible by controller/keyboard

Congratulations once again on the great game you created.

Just for some nit-picking feedback:
all three volume bars (on the audio menu) are now called "MASTER" (instead of master, sound effects and music volumes, as I belive they were).

Cheers!

Thank you for the kind words! And also thank you for letting me know about the mistake with the volume bars. I must have incorrectly set them up when allowing them to swap between languages. That will be fixed in the next update.

Version 1.3.2

The development build has been updated with the following changes:

  • The game has been re-compiled with the newest version of the AIR SDK in the hopes of resolving an issue that Adobe AIR apps have reportedly had with Windows 10.
  • Various text in UI have had Russian translations added/corrected
  • The audio menu has had its text corrected

This leaves just a couple things I'd like to tackle in the future:
  • Detect the language that newer players are running Steam off of, and automatically set the game to run with that language, so they don't have to navigate the menu in a non-native language to find the settings
  • Update the Mac version of the game to include all previous updates (not looking forward to this at all...)

Hey there, just finished playing through the game and I love it! I did notice there were a few typos; are those something you would like to hear about and potentially fix? Totally understand if you don't, just thought I'd ask. Thanks for the great experience!

Hey, glad you enjoyed the game and thanks for the FYI! I looked through the screenshots you made and saw these issues:
  • Talking to Gwen as the cat in chapter 4...not a typo as much as a whole dialogue node malfunction (woops, I honestly thought I fixed that)
  • Talking to Quella as Alton, she accidentally a word
  • Talking to Marcurio and forcing him to answer a "qestion"
  • Somewhat minor, but when Gwen talks to Donovan the dialogue box shows Gwen as speaking when it's just a narration

These would all be real easy to fix so they could go into a patch. If there's other typos or whatnot feel free to let me know!

Hey Peltast. I know this is very old but I wanted to talk to you. Firstly amazing game, incredible and one of my favorite games I've ever played, and also first game to make me this scared, goosebumped, and schizophrenic. Secondly I already got the achievement that you get when you gain full control over everyone you can get full control over but even after talking to Garv with Darryl and getting that achievement, I'm not able to get full control of Garv or confess to the trafficking with him . Is this a bug or did I do it too late or something.
