Is Heroine annoying like in the anime?
Hey guys, can you help me out?

I'm considering buying this game, but I have one reservation. I watched the anime and in my opinion the Heroine was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying, like most of her dialogue consisted of "um...", "well...", "uh..." etc., she wasn't capable of making one decision for herself (except Ukio's route I guess) and just went with the flow and what all the guys and Orion told her (I know she was very confused and scared without her memories, everyone would be in her shoes, I understand that, but it was still damn annoying and threw me off a lot towards this series :/).

Does she act like that in the game as well or is she more mature and capable of making decisions and taking care of herself on her own?

Gimme your opinions on this matter please :3.
Cheers.

In the game it explains that when her memory leaves her so does her personality with it. As she gains more of her memory, more of her personality comes back and she becomes less of a shell of a person.

For the most part though, "you" are the heroine. Whenever she speaks prior to gaining memories you make the choice of what she says. Most of the other folks do the talking and Orion's character makes a lot more sense in the game as he's sorta a stand-in to give you clues as to how the heroine is acting and feeling. It is however heavily designed for self-insertion, so I don't think you should have so much of a problem with her personality getting in the way.

Oh, that's awesome :D thanks for your reply Revenir!

Gonna buy the game whenever I have enough money :)

She basically IS and Orion more or less speaks for her, BUT you do get to choose what she says. HOWEVER remember that you have to choose the right thing to get the right endings so that's a bit out of your hands.

Mmm... but at least she still talks more than in anime... I guess :D

Thanks for your reply Maverynthia :)

Yeah the issue with the anime is that it was pulled from the VN and the VN gives very little indication of how she's feeling at a given moment. She's an empty vessel that you put your own personality into, meaning how she feels at a any point is how you feel at that point.

So, even though the anime tried to preserve this it wound up making her an almost pointless existence. Because unlike the VN you aren't self-inserting in the anime and are more a casual observer, thus making it more evident that she's not really doing anything. Add to that what the first person said about how Orion has a lot more purpose in the VN (he just is sorta...there in the anime) and I found the VN to be far more interesting and attention grabbing.

Assuming you don't mind the fact you have to self-insert.

Yeah, the general feeling I'm getting from the comments is that in the VN we choose what Heroine will say based on our personality and feelings, so it's like we were her (hence the generic name for her as well I believe), but in the anime, since the creators didn't know or couldn't predict what should be said, they went with the evasive solution and made her say almost nothing... and boy did the anime suffer a lot from that.

Anyways, from what I see the VN should be interesting and I'm sure the story is a lot more complex in the VN than the anime (+ there's like 20 endings, right?), so I'm gonna try it out :)

Thanks for your feedback GoldenKitten :3

Yeah; 5 Good Endings, 5 "Normal" Endings, and 16 Bad Endings. Some are longer and more in depth than others but it definitely gives a good deal of replayability over other VN's where you tend to have just 1 Good and 1 Bad ending for each route.

And I believe your conclusion about the anime is correct. I think they didn't know how to make her act because she was a blank slate and rather than "destroy" the players vision of her by forcing some personality on her they tried to remain as true to the VN as possible. But of course Anime and Visual Novels are very different mediums through which to tell a story and just in the same way Movies that are made from Books often have to take artistic license with the material (because movies often can't go into the same level of detail as books) when translating a VN to anime you also need to take liberties. Maybe they just didn't know what to do, or maybe they were afraid of angering fans, but...well, we know what the result was. Blargh.

Hahah damn, 60% bad endings over 40% good/neutral, that's depressing xD

Yeah, movie and anime adaptations always need to make some changes to the source material (though there are a few anime titles which follow their respective mangas/ligh novels perfectly, but in the case of VNs it's pretty much impossible), and the question always is what needs to be changed, what needs to be removed/added, etc. Some titles succeed at it and make the anime enjoyable (like Clannad, though I don't know how it compares to VN 'cause I never played it), others, well...

And whatever we say, the worst kind of adaptations are live action movie adaptations of anime ._.

The VN is a lot better than the anime, it was confusing as well with the way it flicked between the different routes. The VN you don't feel the lack of personality quite so much because you insert your own in a sense and gradually you do see more personality in her. Because you are following a storyline and learning as you go whereas it was skipped in the anime. Overall it is a lot better done and I loved it, I hope that they translate the other games that come after this one.
