Amnesia Later & Crowd on Steam ?
Hey there !

I've been willing to play Amnesia for years but strangely enough, I just couldn't find it anywhere... Until recently. I really enjoyed it (even more than I expected), heck I'd gladly replay some routes (like Shin's, since he's my favorite) but I still feel sad now that I have finished this VN. I want more, and I know there IS more.

Amnesia Later and Amnesia Crowd are two sequels to Amnesia Memories if I'm not mistaken. So here is my question... I was wondering whether Idea Factory was planning to release Later and Crowd on Steam as well, or not ?
Cause I'd buy it for sure. Please IF ? I beg you. ;-;

Weird they seem to have forgotten about PC/Steam when many JP publishers have embraced the platform in the last few years... I'll still be keeping one eye open in case that ever changes.

They didn't forget the PC platform, they release pretty much their other games on PC all the time. It just seems they may have no care porting their visual novels especially otome to PC.

Just to cut in- I hope I don't sound like a downer but as far as I can tell Otomate has really gravitated away from PC releases, at least as far as localizations of their older series go. Heck, I don't think I've seen any of their fandisks on steam ever, and some of their most popular games like Code: Realize, Piofiore and Collar X Malice still haven't hit PC which, unfortunately says a lot about how they view the PC market, since usually you can expect a port from them within... I wanna say 1-3 years after the game is localized.
The one thing I can say with absolute certainty is that the Nintendo Switch has basically gotten the PS Vita treatment as far as otomes go- and between The Amnesia FD release last year and the Norn9 FD this year, if you're really passionate about otomes... at this point I would just invest in a switch, I'd say that at this point in time the library is more than bulky enough to make it worth it.
It really sucks but it seems to me Steam releases from Idea Factory are basically just limited to... well, not the Otomate division, lol.

This past year I gave in and went the Switch route for my Otomes (even though I value JastUSA for continuing their PC work). Gotta say, so far I don't regret getting my hands on the chunk I've purchased so far.

It really is a beefy library, and this year is going to be adding a pretty good amount of new otomes to the mix as well. I'm assuming that the logic behind the "switch exclusives" route may be due to the fact that its basically a more popular version of the Vita. Why pay to make PC ports when practically everyone and their mother has a switch? (Also say what you will about the quality of the RPG games on the console, but Switch really is god-tier as far as VN gameplay goes.)

I think there is more to it than that. For one, Aksys does not really port to PC for any of their games and only a small handful do get ported. The only otomate games ported to PC by an English publisher were from IFI since they do frequently port to PC. 7'Scarlet and the Psychedelica games were ported by a Korean publisher. Because of that there hasn't even really been a chance for a fandisc to get ported since Aksys doesn't really care about PC ports. Also, Amnesia's PC port was simultaneous with the Vita localization and the Hakuoki PC ports came not long after the Vita versions and they sold decently close to release even before the major price drops and it didn't turn Otomate away from PC ports when they later allowed for 7'Scarlet and the Psychedelica games to get ported which are much less known. I would not be surprised if Aksys were asked by Otomate or something about PC ports and had no interest which may have contributed.

I agree there's probably a lot more to well, but either way the point still remains that the chance of any more Otomate games getting released on PC in the foreseeable future seems slim at best, unfortunately.

I am somewhat hopeful about IFI maybe tossing a bone regarding a future PC port for an otomate game, including Later x Crowd, but I agree at least it is very unlikely any Aksys localized otome game comes to PC.
I feel like this is even more relevant now. They put out Later x Crowd on switch but not steam. :/

It's really a shame, but maybe they will someday. Eventually.

one of the issues is though on steam most the prices are alot lower compared to switch. like some of my bigger games like amnesia, bustafellows, steam prison and more they were cheaper by about $10 at least compared to the ones when sold on switch. I have paid way more for all my otome games on switch to the point it makes my wallets cry. I mean I can pay $60 and get 2 otome games on steam but try to match that and I only get one game of the bigger names on switch so there is a big difference in the market so they probably just want to make as much as they can off it.

The physical switch cartridges are more expensive but in general the digital version has the same price tag as the Steam version. The two exceptions you mentioned are Amnesia (which is just because its more or less meant to be bundled with the LaterxCrowd fandisks) and Steam Prison, which has a high markup because the switch release is actually a different version than the Steam one- (Fin's route is already included and not DLC, and there are additional side stories for each of the LIs)
The main thing that would make a price difference would probably be sales, which Steam does tend to have more of.
I will end my life if this isn’t on steam at some point

It’s clear people want it since this thread from 2015 still gets posts…

I own on Amnesia Later X Crowd on Switch, but I agree on wanting the game on Steam. Same with Amnesia World.

Wow I certainly didn't expect this thread to blow up like that..
But I'm really happy to see that so many people share the same wish !

Here's hoping we'll get it at some point, even if it HAS been a while....
