Other than than that, Kent was one of the most frustating game experiences I've had, as everything you have to do in that route to get the good ending was so counter intuiative to what the game was telling you. The story and character of Kent was good though. I never liked Shin through his entire route, until the very end of the good ending when the heroine straight up told him to stop being a ♥♥♥♥ to her. Then I was cool with them being together
Shin's route made me all kinds of angry.
Why? I'm sure I'll get hung, drawn, and quatertered by his fans, but this is my honest opinion.
First: He kept forcing himself physically on the heroine and she didn't seem to care much for it. He was quite into the idea of "being seen as a man" but that isn't he ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way to do it.
But more than that, the entire Shinano drama was his construct entirely, even if indirectly so. Why's that, you ask...? Well, he tried to make out with Heroine and she wasn't entirely comfortable and ran away / rejected him. She ended up um, tripping off a cliff. Not his fault directly, but still.
So what did he do: He went back to the lodge, called the authorties (for some reason; was there even a crime at this time? No. He could have just asked the others for help searching.) then proceeded to remain seated there because he was afraid he'd be presumed guilty because of his father's guilt. After he was the one who called the authorities.
Then, Toma did find the heroine and she was delirious because of blood loss due to the trash and broken bottles in the area. She mistook him for Shin, twice, and he... shoved her. SHOVED HER, okay, fandom? He shoved her. He didn't STRANGLE her. My god, such misinformation is spread.
Heroine is found by Ikki and Kent and is taken away in an ambulence; she thanks Toma in the ambulance hinting that she realized it was -him- who discovered her second.
But the the little piece of ♥♥♥♥ known as Orion happens and I'm sure Shin believes her shove injuries were far worse than they were.
God, this route made me so mad. And the fact Toma basically lost both relationships(with Shin and Heroine) that were most important to him, in the normal and good ending. I actually prefer the bad endings. He didn't have to go to jail for that. I'm sorry he's human.
After that, Ukyo. I get he has um, obvious multiple personality issues, but I don't buy that as a... realistic excuse. I guess I found Toma's build up to madness more convincing and I loved it.
Joker World had some issues I really didn't like The fact on like day 8 you go to the park, see him, he wakes up and strangles you and it's glossed over. I was disgusted, because if that were end game Toma or Ikki route it'd be a bad/or the end. But Orion INSISTS heroine find out more about Ukyo rather than GTF away from the Tokyo Strangler.
And the various um, phone incidents... etc... etc...
Honestly, Kent is legit the only guy who is morally okay, but .. i'm more interested in grey area dudes.
Ikki, though? Ikki I just want to smack. Yeesh. He's perfectly sane and fully aware that his eyes brainwash people, yet he's all too willing to take advantage of that and sleep with girls who may never have been interested in him otherwise. It's scummier than sleeping with drunk (or otherwise intoxicated) girls, and then he has the gall to act like HE'S the victim. He's also a petulant baby when he doesn't get his way (as evidenced by the bad end in which he discovers your amnesia) and spends most of his route being too spineless to face the problems he himself created. His interest in the main character is very shallow, as he was only intrigued by his magic eyes NOT working on her, and instead of treating her as a romantic partner he can finally connect with on a deeper level than the brainwashing allows, he just...treats the relationship as a challenge and spends all his time trying to get in her pants. Grow up, Ikki.
I liked Ikki's character better on routes where you aren't dating him.
Toma is a possesive freak with a little sister complex.
Kent's a belitting know-it-all.
Ikki is a doormat playboy.
Ukyo's normal attitude is too sugary sweet, but at least he knows he's crazy. (Sideyes to Toma.)
...
None of them can seemingly keep their hands to themselves???
....
I'd probably say my personal favorite was Ikki, probably. He's just in my niche. His pros outweight the ♥♥♥♥, especially compared to the other 4.
Also, there is an anime of this otome, if y'all were interested lol.
He can't have a serious relationship because of his eyes and because he isn't able to control his fangirl club. I didn't buy his theory at all.
He basically enjoyed the company of every girls even though his ex girlfriends were tricked by his eyes and they weren't really in love with him.
Not to mention he basically overcome the fact all the girls left him after 3 months without investigating the reason or, if truth be told, he just ignored the "enthusiastic" attachment of his fanclub.
I found him more interesting in other route, than his own. If they kept his playboy personality in his route, with "I don't give a damn, I just want to woohoo with you" attitude, his route would have been more entertaining. Maybe a cliché, but not riddiculous like " I made a wish that became my course".
Ukyo's route was interesting, but I would have preferred to break the 4th wall and actually talk with him about parallel universe where we met.
Toma's route was creepy, but still interesting. I have never interacted with a yandere guy and I found him very sly.
Its not easy to fool him in his route. Its a pity that MC hasn't showed a bit of personality and basically indulged Toma's craziness behaviour.
