Is this game a remake, port, sequel or compilation?

I looked up Amnesia: Memories on google and found on Wikipedia that it's actually the 4th game in the series. There's another 3 games before it called Amnesia, Amnesia Later and Amnesia Crowd.

As far as I know these are all Japan exclusive and haven't been released on anything other than PSP/VITA.

I've tried looking it up on Wikipedia and the Amnesia fan wiki but I haven't been able to find out. It seems that all the same characters are in all 4 games.

Does anyone else have any information? It feels like Memories is more an update than anything as the story seems self contained so far. Is it just an incremental update in the series or do the previous games have a different storyline?

Also no spoilers please, as you can see I've just started playing it. Thanks in advance!

Amnesia: Memories is just the localization of the first game (Amnesia).

Oh. Right. That makes a lot of sense actually. The Memories subtitle was added during the localisation to distinguish it from other games. So does that mean Later and Crowd are sequels? Thanks for the reply :D
