How ever, there maybe a way to play MP on the internet. This will requier a 3rd party softwear and server like "tunggle" for example. My understanding is they host all kinds of older games. I do not know which ones, I was only on it for Silent Hunter 3, and it was cool to do a MP game with that. The server for that game was Ubisoft, lol, they closed their own server down. But if you have tunggle, you can still go on line..
Other than that, the only way to play MP with out a 3rd party deal going on, is on LAN. This function of the game works fine. I know because I raced a friend of mine that came over last month. I beat him... well in most of the tracks..
So if you have a router, a home connection to it, it WILL WORK on the LAN...
Side note, The PC version dosen't have split screen because the PC version dose do MP on the same computer, this is why there is a LAN for it.
I do not think this will work through steam as a LAN.. Not set up like that...
