Controller Support?
Is this game selective of compatible controllers or is there some other issue with my XBox360 controller and this game?

I've used both a 360 and an xbox one controller and both work

did it work for you?
it doesn't for me

Weirdly enough, Steam input doesn't work with this game. It can hook with the game and keyboard/mouse inputs work fine (Steam actually defaults to generic FPS keyboard/mouse layout) but changing into controller bindings do nothing.

Xbone controller did work fine, but there's definitely something going on that can cause issues with anything other than pure XInput controllers.

I actually got a generic knock-off controller ("Cirka" brand) to work quite well with the game, just plug and play with Steam Big Picture.

Not that I'm saying every controller will work that easy, just my experience.

What layout it defaulted to and/or what you use?
For me it did default to keyboard/mouse shooter instead of controller layout and switching to controller layout doesn't work.

And yes, of course it works, because it's steam in the middle translating your DirectInput buttons into keyboard and mouse which game has support for.

DirectInput is the wrong term actually...
it is standard USB HID instead of the proprietary xInput (which is just a variant of USB HID btw)

Well, with DirectInput I do mean non-standard generic non-xinput controller. Because controllers like Dualshock 4 does have their own input standard and then DirectInput as fallback.

Because regardless of what you use, the game itself has to still support it. Also have seen games to hook up into webcams which are installing themselves as USB HID devices to prevent players from interacting with the game. Then so many Unity games where developers hardcoded everything for Xbox controller but engine is actually using RawInput so that all of the controller like devices are suddenly constantly rotating your camera around until you unplug them.

I'm not developer or extreme nerd, so I might use wrong terminology but at the same time I have seen so much over so many games that I have some level of knowledge of what's going on.

And with this game I'm mostly interested as it does appear to be XInput only, but for some reason Steam input XInput wrapping doesn't appear to be working.

DI isn't a hardware thing, its purely software

on other platforms there is simply no difference between xinput and standard HID input devices

because they are fundamentally using the same protocol...

re Steaminput not working: this game appears to resist ANY form of hooking or code injection, which is needed by steam's xinput emulation

Вот как по мне игра прикольная но вот один недостаток не хватает как в portal 2 парной игры .
Надеюсь разработчики обратят на это сообщение внимание
