Linux 64Bit game not running?
Files finally downloaded but

On 64bit Linux game will not start up for me, if i run from the game from terminal then i get this error message:

./switch_galaxy: error while loading shared libraries: libbfd-2.24-system.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

So the game is 32bit only and looks for a 32bit library file which does not exist on my system, i have tried "sudo apt-get install grive:i386" (Looks like nothing installs from this command) but still the game does not run and terminal still outputs the same error?

Xubuntu 14.04.3 LTS 64Bit, Kernel 3.19
AMD FX 8350 8 Core 4.0ghz
12gb Ram
NVidia GTX 960
SoundBlaster X-Fi Pro USB.

Hello!

Thanks for reporting! We'll take a look into this.

Do you have binutils installed?

sudo apt-get install binutils
Rob-Retro(Linux) Nov 24, 2015 @ 12:03pm
Yes i have 64bit version installed, if i install binutils:i386 it uninstall's some of my kernel modules and video driver?, then i have to repair my system.

Have found binutils_2.24-5ubuntu3.1_i386.deb which i then extracted (Not Installed) and placed libbfd-2.24-system.so in a Lib32 folder under the game folder i then scripted a bin/bash file to use Lib32 and now i'm getting:

./switch_galaxy: error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Again a 32bit library i've never needed before?

Don't worry i'm going to ask steam for a refund as why i need all these librarys installed is beyond me as out of almost 400 Linux games running on steam this is the first time i've had to start downloading and installing/extracting Library files.

Update: I have now requested a refund.

Sorry you've had these problems. We will be looking into this and hopefully you'll be able to come back to it soon.

I managed to start the game (on openSUSE): copied libbfd-2.24-system.so to the game folder, then installed libXm-32bit package (as provided from my distribution).
This is only a workaround, because the developer has to provide a game that is playbale out-of-the-box at least on Ubuntu.
However, after I started the game, it seems that it was unable to grab the mouse input, after a while the sound starts to crackling (with pulseaudio) and it was unable to exit (I have to kill it, to re-acquire the control of my desktop).

I am experience the same issue. The game look really fun, and I hope it gets fixed soon. If not, I will unfortunatly have to claim a refund, so please try to fix ASAP if possible.

hello! the same bug :steamfacepalm:
1. i have downloaded 3 files
http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/b/binutils/binutils_2.24-5ubuntu3_i386.deb
http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/multiverse/o/openmotif/libmotif4_2.3.3-5ubuntu1_i386.deb
http://ru.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/libx/libxp/libxp6_1.0.2-2_i386.deb
2. i have extracted all neded libs to Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu

When i m launching game i cant control main menu. Mouse is not working! When i press Enter Steam says me "Application allready launched"

Is there any ways to make this game works?

Having the same issues as everyone else. I had libbfd-2.25 (binutils) installed on my system already but this was looking for the 32bit libbfd-2.24-system.so .. I just created a symlink for the time being to bypass that, but you should change it to look for libbfd.so next time so it works on more systems..

After that it was looking for the 32bit libXm.so.4 . Had to install Motif for my distro (Gentoo). That's an odd library requirement.. You should really stick to using the libraries provided by steam runtime or at the least provide your own. Steam frowns upon requiring system libraries other than this, and they often pull the SteamOS icon from apps store page that do this.

After all of that the game would finally launch. The mouse cursor would appear in game but clicking did not do anything (is it supposed to?). I was able to navigate menu with the keyboard and play a short game. Had a message pop up about game already running. When I closed the game a minute later I noticed that when I was playing with my keyboard it was somehow simultaneously sending all of my keystrokes to the steam desktop client behind it. So I ended up scrolling up several games in my game library and somehow launching another different game (that pulled up in the background) while playing this one. So it seems you aren't capturing mouse or keyboard properly.

Are there any plans to fix this devs? Looks like it's been an issue for a few months now. I'd really like to keep and play this game but if you aren't going to fix it I should ask Steam or a refund.

Thanks

I guess you could throw my system onto the mix. Same issue. 64bit Zorin OS (Ubuntu 14.04), GTX 750Ti, Intel i5, 16 GB of RAM.

SteamOS 2.0 (Brewmaster) user here -- the game won't launch. GPU is nVidia GTX 770.

Ok, now they HAVE to fix it. Valve might excuse it if it wasn't generally Linux compatible, but SteamOS compatiblity I figure they will enforce. Come on, devs. All it takes is you putting a few needed libraries in the game folders (or to correctly link the 64bit to where the 32 bit ones are) and BOOM fixed.

I just ran into the same problem. Seriously, devs? You publish a game that will not run on something as vanilla as Ubuntu 15.10 x86_64? In 2015/2016?
root Feb 22, 2016 @ 8:19pm
I guess I'm going to ask for a refund. Since the dev isn't responding in these forums and has left this game unplayable for 3 months (per this thread).. I can only assume it's abandonned.
