Failed to initialize DirectDraw...

Hello. For the past day or two I've had an itch to play my copy of Plants Vs Zombies again. It's my first time playing it on my new Windows 7 64-bit laptop, whereas my previous one was a 32 bit. The game worked perfectly well on several 32 bit computers in my home, but in trying to run it on this computer I've gotten the following error message immediately when I try to start the game:

"Failed to initialize DirectDraw: RESULT_SURFACE_FAIL
CreateSurface FullScreen Primary: DDER_INVALIDPARAMS"

I've done everything I can immediately think of to try and combat the problem. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game itself, verifying the game cache, installing and updating DirectX, testing DirectX to see if anything wasn't running properly.

I've tested out my other games and all of them run perfectly fine on my system, except for this- and the other Popcap game that I own, Insainaquarium. Both Popcap games give me the exact same start up error and boot me out right away. I really don't want to waste money in buying new copies of either game in different formats, especially since I know they've worked before. Any tips?

Also here's a few extra specs of my computer, if there's anything specific I should be looking at and mentioning just let me know and I'll try to find it:

MSI Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz
8 GB Ram

Make sure there are no other games/applications running while you are trying to start the game. It worked for me...
