error starting the game
I was playing it for a few weeks already and had no problems. Last time played this morning and all was fine. Now when I try to launch it, I get that message: "failed to startup Steam: SteamStartup(0xe,0x0018E350) failed with error 108: The local Steam Service is not running"
I looked it up on support page, checked my game files and steam files - all looks fine. Other games start ok (I've checked several). So - what gives and what to do now?
If it's fixable by just re-installing the game - is save available from Cloud or is it better to save the save file? I love that game, but starting it all over again... :goblin:

Ok can I leave the Steam Client Beta and reenter it later? And will they fix it for the Beta?

Can leave and can reenter. Who know when they fix it...

I just had this issue, and found at least one solution to it. I believe it may be caused by the Steam.dll file used by Plants vs zombies being outdated. To fix this, go into your steam folder, copy the steam.dll file, and open the plants vs zombies folder. Replace the old Steam.dll file with the new one, and then try opening the game.

i fixed it.

1. Right-click on the game title under the "library" in steam and select Properties

2.under the Local Files tab, slect "browse Local Files"

3.search for "PlantsVsZombies.exe", right click on it, and choose Properties

4. under the compatibility tab, select"run this program in compatibility mode" and select "windows XP service pack 3"

have fun.
