PVZ crash: What to do about it?
I'm sure you all know about the infamous:
"Exception: Access Violation (code 0xc0000005) at address 00534C65 in thread EA0
Module: popcapgame1.exe
Logical Address: 0001:00133C65"
crash at this point.

Some people have had success getting it fixed but no matter what I try this crash pops up every single time I press "click here to play" after the game loads. I've tried:
- Verifying the integrity of my game files
- Uninstalling and reinstalling
- Restarting my computer
- Setting the screen to windowed mode via the registry editor
- Running the game in every compatability mode that's in the list
- Setting my desktop to 1024 x 768 resolution
- Copying the Steam.dll file into the PvZ folder
- Right clicking a bunch when the game is starting (yes, that was really a proposed fix!!)

Nothing works. I'm on windows 10; is there any method I missed? Or can I really just not play PvZ anymore?

This may be able to help.

1) open notepad and copy and paste the following text:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SteamPopCap\PlantsVsZombies]
"ScreenMode"=dword:00000000

2) save this text in notepad as "fix.reg" in some folder of your preference

3) go to that folder and then double click (open) "fix.reg". It will ask you to make changes to your system registry.

4) Start Plants vs. Zombies!

If that doesn't work, uninstall it, delete anything related to the game. (game files, files created from the game etc.) Solution 2:

1. Set your desktop resolution to 1024x768. The game should load.

2. Once you're inside the game, go into the ingame options and remove `` 3D Acceleration `` Then quit back to your desktop.

3. Change your desktop resolution back to your regular settings, and start PvZ again. It should load normally and fine.

If Solution 2 doesn't work, try doing Solution 2 again but on Step 1 you turn on compatibility mode for Vista or Windows 7.

As I noted in my original post, I already tried all four of those solutions: disabling full screen through the registry editor, uninstalling and reinstalling the game (including another time through manually deleting all the files), running it in compatability mode and setting the resolution to 1024 x 768 (unlike what the solution says, when I set my resolution to 1024 x 768 the game STILL crashes)

I also tried disabling 3d hardware acelleration by editing that in the registry editor, and that also didn't work.

Okay, i dont know if you said if you could get in in this post, but dont disable 3d in out-of-game settings, you do it inside.
