PVZ Fog Problem
Alright I might be posting in the wrong place because i have the original 2009 version but i'll try here anyway. The problem is that when I got to the fog levels 4-X, the fog was strangely very low quality, in contrast to the higher quality fog that I saw in previous playthroughs of the game.

I want to know if there is something in my computer that is doing this or is it the 3d acceleration

Long time I didn't play the game. Are you sure there is no in game option for this?

yeah I don't see any option in the menu to change it. It's just 3d acceleration, and fullscreen

At least it doesn't destroy the ability to play the game or changes gameplay itself. But I definitely understand you that you want the fog to be normal.

Because you said "original 2009 version":
Is your dancing zombie Michael Jackson or the Disco guy?

the dancing zombie is Michael Jackson

Then you really have an older version that doesn't get any updates. The Michael Jackson zombie has been replaced by a Disco Stu-like zombie. They were afraid to get disputes with the Jackson Estate.

What I want to say is that it seems that the fog in the original version had lower quality.

Not really, the fog should be able to possess a higher quality. I remember it being a higher quality when I played the game a few years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IKUfDIffxI (this video should be proof, just look at when it was uploaded)

Unluckily search engines don't help either. If you look for fog in PvZ you get only hits on fog levels but nothing that mentions problems with the sprite itself. Sorry.

I just can add that the devs don't read the Steam forums.

So I went ahead and figured out the problem myself. Apparently i need to enable 3d acceleration, but it's not allowing me. It says " not Supported. Hardware Acceleration Cannot Be Enabled on This Computer. Your video card does not meet the minimum requirements". I'm using windows 10 as well, so im gonna need some help here.

If you have an AMD or NVIDIA GPU you should have an icon in your tray, can you activate it there for that game?
Contraceptive Nov 21, 2015 @ 4:48pm
it should already be activated tho, and i checked (I have nvidia). I think there might be an issue for just PVZ itself.

Not in a timely manner, but I know how to help you. Open the game folder [\Steam\steamapps\common\Plants Vs. Zombies] and create an folder there with the name [images]
download these two images:
fog_software
fog_software_
and copy them to the [images]
ÆLSTER Dec 15, 2020 @ 7:53am
Images should be named [fog_software] and [fog_software_]

What are the chances that someone else has those files because I am having the same issue, however I think those links stopped working for the images, this is literally like one of those "5 year old post with same problem" memes on Discord.
