Plants vs Zombies lagging on Linux?
Does anyone else have lag when playing this game through ProtonDB on Linux?

I have Ubuntu 20.04.

I tried playing the Steam version of Plants vs Zombies on my linux machine (runs on SSD, 32 GB ram, gtx 1070, ryzen 2600x).

Regular gameplay is pretty smooth but the cutscenes are laggy as ♥♥♥♥. In the seed selection screen the framerate drops to 1/4 of normal rate and it's horrible to watch.

idk, but the same is for me. I'm guessing since the game is old I think it can only be 20fps for a cut scene. I could have a thousand zombies on screen and have 60fps but just that one poorly made cut scene somehow only can show 20fps

I've tried it on my laptop as well which has the same problem, totally the game not your pc
I don't have any idea about the seed selection lag since that also is 60fps, since the game is small just reinstall it, if it still shows 20fps in the seed selection maybe there could be a bug on your device

I have the same but it's not a big deal. It's only the sides of the screen while picking your plants, I can still play the game no problem.

I used to play on computers that had no GPU and this game doesn't even need a gpu or anything above a basic i3 dual core processor with low-end integrated graphics. Never had any lag and everything was very fast to click and move on.

Guessing it's an issue with the game being coded for older systems and operating systems that cause this?
