Game keeps crashing
Plants vs Zombies crashes at random points when I'm trying to play- from selling a zen garden plant to trying to play survival mode at the pool. When it crashes, my screen turns black and just stays that way, then I have to exit out of the game. Is this happening to anyone else or can anyone help me?

Have you tried WinD3D? It's the only way I've been able to run the game on my Win10 machine with 3440x1440 (run at either 2560x1080 or 1920x768 because this and some other old games don't scale to the native res).

Personal I just play it windowed all the time so i can watch something. In full screen it hurts my eyes so windowed to me is the way to go.

By any chance are you running this game on Windows 10? I've heard a lot about people having difficulty running Steam games with Windows 10.

For crying out loud, the standalone version of "Plants vs. Zombies" runs perfectly on my ancient Sony 2001 VAIO XP 256MB RAM 800MHz laptop, and I suspect it has a damaged Operating System no less!

Are you getting any sort of error message? If so, what, if any, is the code given (e.g. "c0000005")?

This is a wild guess, but you can download these, place them in the folder with the Plants Vs. Zombies EXE file, and then try the game:

Do NOT place these in the "System32" folder of your computer- just where the game's EXE file is. I have used these and they have gotten many games and at least one application working on my old (very old) Sony laptop, in spite of what I suspect is a corrupted Operating System. Remember, these files are NOT meant to replace anything in your computer's Operating System.
