Driver error and no headset detected when setting up Vive. Please Help
Hello,

I am attempting a first time setup of Vive (so excited) but I keep getting a driver error for BCM2045AO. It searches Windows update then fails, and finally stores it under 'Other Devices' with no driver installed.

Also, when running SteamVR it shows the headset is not connected, even though it is. Everything is setup as instructed. I should point out that until I can update my GPU, I am running a Nvidia GTX 560 TI with 4 gb ram. I have purchased a hdmi mini to hdmi cable for the Vive connection. I am also running Windows 7 with SP 1.

Can anyone please help? Thank you in advance.

Try removing all of the SteamVR USB devices and installing again. I had to install the drivers twice before they would work, though I'm on 10 and not 7.

Run SteamVR as an admin. Settings > Developer > Reset > Remove All SteamVR USB Devices

Then reboot your machine.

Thank you for your reply. I tried your suggestion, but unfortunately it did not resolve the issue. It reinstalled all the drivers, except for BCM2045A0 which failed.

The light on the headset is still blinking red.

I should also mention that the SteamVR error number is 208 (monitor not found), if that helps a little.

Any other suggestions?

The BCM driver failure is not a problem. You can ignore that.

The 208 error is the one to troubleshoot: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamVR/Troubleshooting

Make sure your HMD monitor isn't mirroring your primary display. Set it to extended if you're not able to use direct mode.

Thank you for your continued help.

I have verified the drivers are up to date, the display is set to extended, and I followed the steps in the troubleshooting guide. Unfortunately the red light is still blinking and there is no image in the headset, as if there was no power. I still receive the error 208.

Is the GTX 560 ti, not compatible? I am using an HDMI mini to HDMI cable. I have also tried a DVI to HTMI adapter. I understand I need to update my GPU, but I was hoping to get the Vive setup for now.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you for your help
