Steam VR test... states that the R9 390 8 GB Gaming Should be upgraded?

As the subject states, I ran the test, expecting the CPU to be a bottle neck but the test recommends I upgrade the Video card.... my system is as follows:
I7 960 at 3.20 Ghz 12 Gb ddr 3 Ram and the R9 390 8GB gaming.
Test shows the following: VR Capable (mid Range)
Average fidelity 2.8 (low)
Frames tested 8089
Frames below 90 fps: 0
Frames CPU Bound: 0

stange, i ran it with my R9 390 and i5-4690K, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and it ran very well,
0 frames below 90FPS
only 1 frame CPU bound.
avarage graphical fidelity was high.

didn't recommend upgrading either my cpu or gpu

My rig System. Windows 10 64bit. Amd FX 8320 8 core 4GHZ with 24 gig ram ddr3 , Radeon R9 280x HD 7970 3 gig ram.

My results were: CPU passed and Windows 10 etc

VR Capable (mid Range)
Average fidelity 2.6 (low)
Frames tested 8540
Frames below 90 fps: 2
Frames CPU Bound: 2

So my older card is not much worse than the OP 390x which leads me to the fact I need to get a 980Ti ?!

Update: Update drivers, latest driver, still the same issue, sent the info to support, but have not heard anything back. :(

I think I will wait and see what results i get with my current card and if its lacking and stutters all the time then I will upgrade my gpu, but as the next gen cards are due in may I think it's prudent to wait rather than waste dosh on older cards.

Your card is ok for VR. You could try runnig 3dmark demo downloading from steam and compare your results with others jusdt to see if something is odd with regular usage (misconfig or something like that).

You should not invest in a GPU when Polaris and Pascal are here in a few months.
