Revive straight from GitHub with a Trojan???
Always get the Revive installer straight from the official GitHub page here:

https://github.com/LibreVR/Revive/releases

I'm on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit... Windows Defender (fully up to date) flagged the Revive Injector and the Revive Installer as having a Trojan:Win32/Varpes.M!cl virus:

Anyone else ever have the official GitHub installers get flagged before?

Could very well be a false positive. Happens all the time with Windows Defender. I prefer to use Superantispyware and Malwarebytes.

Actually if you look up that specific instance that Windows Defender is flagging as a trojan there are a couple posts where it is stated to be a false positive. Its probably because the file is so new and uncommonly used.

Well, that's somewhat comforting (:

Thanks for chiming in (both of you)... I'm doing full scans on all my machines that are the network to be safe.

I don't trust revive.

Wound up wiping my machine and reinstalling when the Anniversary Update hit... not installing Revive again... I'll wait for the timed exclusives to come to the Vive on Steam

Same here. I can't trust some random download on Github...

I've used multiple versions of Revive. Worked fine when I used it.

Not sure what people are worried about...?

Windows Defender isn't exactly the best scanner tbh...download something like the Kaspersky scanner (it's free); it does a much better job.

Or, use common sense and do not download random files from Github...

It's not a "random file"; it's a program that thousands of people have downloaded and used successfully.

You're being overly paranoid.

I wouldn't exactly call this "some random file"...it's been used by thousands of people without any reported issues. Just run an extra scan on it to be safe. You don't have to be wrapped in bubble wrap and wear tinfoil hats to use the internet...

Sure. How many viruses have you have over the past 10 years or so? None here...

I've had a couple, and that was from when I did something very obviously stupid, what's your point? It's a simple task to remove them 95% of the time.

You just proved my point.

That it's normal to freak out over every little downlaod on the off chance there's a virus? I think not.

It's very easy to avoid viruses and not be overly paranoid at the same time. I don't know why you think Revive would be an issue given that thousands have used it with no issue. If that's not confidence enough then do a quick scan, that's what they're for.

You can avoid viruses in two ways: by being smart and not going places like freewindows10.xyz, or you can completely shield yourself from all content on the internet. I take it you're #2.
