The Vive needs a open world survival game (like DayZ)
I know... there are tons of zombie games for the Vive... but they're all just "kill the waves" games. I would love to see a DayZ style game for the Vive. I think there are a variety of different games out that have provided a variety of different means of movement that would work well for such a game. Obviously... I'm implying that this game would be multiplayer. Features could be as follows:

Long Distance world movement: An abundance of vehicles would certainly help with movement over longer distances. Provide motorcycles, cars, trucks, and even motorhomes. Interacting with things like gas stations, and even allowing players to fix their cars at abandoned mechanic shops could turn the driving/maintenance into a game itself. In addition, if you had passengers, you could have one person driving with one hand/shooting with other, and passengers shooting while helping to reload ammo for the driver.

Short Distance world movement: The mechanism used to move in VR zGAME would work well for something like this. Moving from room to room in a house, or even between houses/stores. It would allow you to take out small groups of zombies or other enemies while not having to pay too much attention to the movement itself. I guess warping would be an option, but I feel it's not at all immersive.

In Room Movement: In a game like this, there are tons of areas that would make fantastic use of room scale features. Everything from pumping gas in your car to exploring a room in a house to look for more ammo/food/weapons. You could easily make such tasks involved experiences that require you to find keys to locked gun cases, use tools to open hidden basements, etc. Using tables to sort through your inventory at room scale would be very involved... especially if you were using an amazing weapon system similar to what's in H3VR.

Hoard combat: obviously, you'd have things like zombies or whatever that you'd have to kill by shooting through windows, holding off at doorways, etc. houses to move around would be ideal for luring them around a corner where you've setup traps (that you've built from collecting parts from various shops)

Intelligent combat: One thing that hasn't really been seen much with the Vive is room scale combat. I'm talking about taking cover behind doorway walls, ducking under windows, etc. Taking cover using room scale movement would be a very involved and exciting experience. Enemies that attack at range (either by throwing things, shooting, or whatever) would allow players to make good use of houses and other objects as cover, and would really tie the entire experience together.

Motorhomes would be awesome. being able to park and then head inside to go through weapons n' stuff. Also have other players in the back getting weapons/food/etc ready while someone's driving to the next town.

5089: The Action RPG is an open world VR game. The idea itself actually works pretty well, even with the teleporting....its just a very complex and a downright strange game.

I can't get into it, but its proof of concept and plays well. I'd love to see a survival based VR game though for sure.

Yeah. I have 5089. I just feel like it doesn't make any real use of room scale movement. A game like DayZ, which has houses you can go into, would make great use of the feature. Plus, it doesn't have to be ONLY zombies. It could be all sorts of themes. Aliens, zombies, general supernatural stuff. Something like The Secret World.

Yeah I know what you mean. I mean in 5089 you can dodge stuff and hide behind cover to shoot and all that stuff, but the weapons feel very clunky and yeah you can go inside your base and everything, but it doesn't feel the same. The bases are very empty.

Hey mate. Just came across this post, and I realise that it's a few months old, but I have to agree. Have you played GTA V in VR?

I remember seeing one that already has alot of similar features as far as crafting and gathering things goes but no zombies....yet. Can't remeber the name though
