Can i use the VR with a Nividia GTX 770?

From what I have read here you can use a 770 buy you will be limited on the type of games and you will drop frames which will degrade your experience.
You may have to upgrade. The good news is that you will have great options for less now with the arrival of the GTX 1070, RX 480 and the price drop of GTX980 and R9 cards.

I had a GTX 680, which benchmarks in the same ballpark as the 770. It never gave me better than 2 (of 11) on the SteamVR Performance Test. I recommend you upgrade.

if you have money for a vr headset then... maybe you should put your money towards a new graphics card instead. Then you can save up for a vr headset. You might be able to play some games on your 770. but i doubt you'll be able to play the ones you really want to play

It would be really dumb to upgrade your card right now. Sometimes it's about not wasting money. VR cards are about to be released, and we'll be seeing a massive price drop in the 970s and 980s here soon. You'll be able to grab a 1070 here in a couple months for about the same as a 970 now. Next month the retail 1080s will hit the market in the same price range as the 980s. The Vive's price isn't going to change for a while, and you can get one now.

I'm currently on a 780 it's runs it well for most part only time it lags is loading games...I'm upgrading to 1080 though
