About HDMI Splitter
I known some people use display port or DVI port to solve it.But I burned with curiosity over this issue .I was experiment on VIVE and Rift.Result like as below:
※VIVE:
HDMI port → HDMI Splitter output 1→VIVE(Black Screen).
............................................output 2→no connect another screen.
※Rift:
HDMI port → HDMI Splitter output 1→Rift(ok).
............................................output 2→another Screen(Black Screen).
And I also try HDCP decorder. Like as:
※VIVE:
HDMI port → HDCP decorder→VIVE(ok).
※Rift:
HDMI port → HDCP decorder→Rift(Black Screen).

Can someone tell me why I can't use Splitter?
P.S. My Splitter is 4K*2K(HDMI 1.4).HDCP decorder is 1080p.

I don't believe you can't use a splitter because of the resolution and refresh rate. About 2160 x 1200 and 90 hz. No monitor is able to show that.

But if you have a graphics card with like DVI and/or HDMI and/or DISPLAYPORT use one for the vive (pref HDMI) and the other for the monitor, even with an adaptor. That's what I did and works as a charm.

Splitters simply don't work when using two displays of different specs. They both have to be the same resolution and refresh rate or else they simply don't work.

Some can - the true multisync or multiscan types. You can change the display sizing to match. They're not common, though.

Im trying to extend the HDMI signal over cat6 cable. I have the transmitter at pc side and receiver at the HTC vive side that is in another room. I only get error 208 even if I just tries a cable that are only 3 metera cat6 cables so I think it may be the fact the HDMI extender that cause it_. Have anyone got the HDMI over ethernet to work. I have used
Vendor Deltaco
Modell HDMI-221
IEEE-568B.
HDPC 1.2 passthru, support 1080P

Where can i get the decoder as stated here that you have gotten to work with htc vive

This is the correct answer. Splitters will not work between a VR HMD and desktop monitor.

Wont matter in the future though because as of the next gen of GPUs they'll have a dedicated port for VR headsets anyway.

I wonder if that will provide some technical advantage too, like faster frame rate on the headset? Will specialing that output port make it more efficient for the heaset I wonder? IN effect make for better perofrmance with the same tech chip on the GPU.

It's called Virtual link so you can look into the limited amount of info there is but yes, there are some advantages. Be a while before it comes to market though.

That is exciting to know. Thanks!
